Tree Toasts Okanagan Vintners With New Brew
Posted Thursday, May 9th, 2013 by Tip Top

Tree Red WoodMay 7, 2013 (Kelowna, BC) -- Red, red wine...and beer? Apparently so in the Okanagan thanks to Tree Brewing. The award-winning craft brewer has just released its limited edition red wine barrel aged beer - Redwood - to coincide with the start of the Spring Okanagan Wine Festival.

“We brewed Redwood to celebrate the Vintners in the Okanagan Valley that continue to produce world-class wines,” says Tod Melnyk, President, Tree Brewing. “They have made our region famous for their products, and we would like to toast their efforts.”

To further promote the link between the beverages that the Okanagan is so well known for, Tree partnered with Quails’ Gate Vineyards, also in Kelowna, to source the barrels for Redwood.

Oak barrel aged for over 100 days in 7 year old Marechal Foch wine barrels, Redwood is a light/medium-bodied Ale pouring light red /copper in colour with a golden hue, and displays mellow aromas of vanilla and light toffee combined with some earthy red wine notes. It is smooth tasting with a pleasant hop flavour balanced with notes of citrus, toasted oak and light red fruit. The finish is clean, smooth and dry.
