Tree BeachKelowna–based Craft Brewer Raises $10,000 for BC Cancer Foundation
December 6, 2012 (Kelowna, BC) – Kelowna’s award-winning Tree Brewing has often referenced its cans over the years, but this time they’re actually talking about breasts - breast cancer to be more specific. Craft beer consumers across BC and Alberta have been raising pink cans over the past couple of months, and all for a great cause. The brewer launched Beer for Breast Cancer - their Beach Blonde lager in pink cans - for a limited time in September and October, with proceeds benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation.

“The support we received on this initiative from our customers was incredible, and we can’t thank them enough for raising a pink can for a great cause,” says Tree Brewing President, Tod Melnyk. “We all have a connection to breast cancer through a family member or someone we know, and we hope that the $10,000 we’re donating from this program will help the BC Cancer Foundation to change that statistic.”

Douglas Nelson, President & CEO, BC Cancer Foundation says, “Thank you to Tree Brewing Company for your support of the BC Cancer Foundation. Your generosity is helping make a difference in the lives of the more than 3,200 British Columbians who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.”

For the months of September and October, the pink version of Beach Blonde Lager was available in British Columbia and exclusively at Liquor Depot in Alberta. Proceeds of the sale of these cans are going to the BC Cancer Foundation to support breakthrough breast cancer research happening at the BC Cancer Agency in the Southern Interior.

The perfect beer for all occasions, Beach Blonde Lager is light-bodied, smooth with a clean, crisp finish. The brew was a Bronze Medalist at the 2012 Canadian Brewing Awards.
