Mother Earth BrewingMother Earth Brewing announced today that it has been honored as a 2012 North Carolina Companies to Watch recipient.

The North Carolina Companies to Watch award is presented by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) in partnership with the Edward Lowe Foundation. The award honors growth oriented, second-stage companies headquartered in North Carolina that demonstrate high performance in their market, exhibit innovative products and display other unique qualities that make them “worth watching.” Mother Earth Brewing was one of 25 recipients selected from over 200 nominees across the state.

Mother Earth Brewing’s CFO, Audra Marotta accepted the honor at an awards dinner on June 7, 2012, at the Raleigh Marriott City Center in Raleigh, NC. Marotta explains the value of the award, “The CED is the southeast’s largest entrepreneurial support organization, and represents over 1,000 companies in NC- to be recognized as a company ‘worth watching’ by this prestigious organization speaks to Mother Earth Brewing’s commitment to smart growth and to the further development of eastern NC as a great place to do business.”

Marotta adds, “The CED calculated that the 25 recipients collectively added jobs at an annual rate of 35 percent between 2008 and 2011, totaling 936 new jobs, and grew revenue by an annual rate of 41 percent during the same period, totaling $191 million in revenue. We are extremely honored to be a member of this dynamic group of businesses.”

The 2012 North Carolina Companies to Watch recipients are privately-held companies with six to 99 employees and generate between $750,000 and $50 million in annual revenue from sales receipts, grants or investors.

CED’s mission is to identify, enable and promote emerging growth companies and to accelerate the entrepreneurial culture of the Research Triangle and North Carolina. Learn more athttp://www.cednc.org. The CED’s video and interview with Marotta can be found here.
