I've written about the great program that Sierra Nevada has running with it's Beer Camp before. Well, a recent Beer Camp was sort of an anomaly. There were some big guns of the beer scene on hand. Namely, Tomme Arthur of Port/Lost Abbey, Tom Nickel of O'Briens, and Jeff Bagby of Pizza Port were on hand. These big hitters put their stamp on a big new Beer Camp brew.
Empire Strikes Black is a big, thick Imperial Stout, weighing in at 10.5%. It's pitch black and exactly what you would expect from these guys contributing. There was a firkin of it tapped at Sierra Nevada on May 21st, but the rest will go out to the Beer Camp's participants establishments. I'm not sure who else was there, but there are sure to be more than the three mentioned. At least you know at some point you will see this on tap at Pizza Port, O'Briens and Lost Abbey. Must be tough to live in the San Diego area.
