While this is old news to many, Stone will be releasing their 13th Anniversary Ale later this month. This year's beer will be an Imperial/Double Red Ale. This one should satisfy the hopheads, as Stone uses more hops per barrel in this beer than any beer that they have every produced. "We used Chinook hops in the brewhouse for bittering and flavor, then dry-hopped this beer with a 50/50 blend of Simcoe and Centennial. As an added bonus, we then dry-hopped it again, just prior to filtering and packaging. That’s right, our popular double dry-hopped process, for the first time ever in one of our bottled beers!" Could this one be as popular as Stone 10th was among hop lovers? Only time will tell. There is a ton of stuff about this beer all around. Check out the video of the first bottling run that just took place. There is the Stone page about the beer. Here's a nice photo of it being bottled.
As for the brewery's brief description, here it is. "Stone 13th Anniversary Ale pours brilliant deep red with a light tan foam. Up front, the aroma is all piney, resinous and citrus hops. Upon tasting, the hops are still on the front, and they are balanced with the malty, toffee like flavors contributed from the blend of crystal and amber malts used in the brewhouse. The finish is deliciously bitter, with a touch of warmth provided by the 9.5% alcohol. Bitterness comes in at 90+ IBU." I am very optimistic with this one, as it seems to have all the components of a great hoppy summer drinker for me. It will be available in 22oz bottles and limited draft.
While looking forward to the beer itself, don't forget about the Stone 13th Anniversary Celebration coming up. Info and tickets can be found on the Stone Website.
