Short's Nicie Spicie
Posted Thursday, May 31st, 2012 by James Kitchens

nicie spicie(Bellaire, MI) - Short's Brewing has a post on their website to tell us all that it's "Nicie Season". This refers to their Nicie Spicie summer wheat beer. Availability is "soon", according to the post. Details are below...

From the Short's website:

It’s Nicie Season

Short’s summer wheat beer, Nicie Spicie, is back! Exemplified by its gorgeous golden color, Nicie is a crisp and refreshing Northern Michigan wheat ale brewed with real citrus zest and lightly spiced with coriander and peppercorn. This light bodied ale is refreshing and sessionable, yet will engage even the most sophisticated palate. Nicie is a true Short’s original, dating back to our first year of business. To this day, Joe rates Nicie as among his very favorite Short’s Brews of all time. Try it for yourself and see why there’s nothing more refreshing than Nicie on a hot afternoon! Look for it in stores soon!

Weyerbacher's SEVENTEEN
Posted Thursday, May 31st, 2012 by James Kitchens

seventeen label(Easton, PA) - Weyerbacher Brewing has a website post about their Seventeenth Anniversary beer. Appropriately enough, this one is called SEVENTEEN. It's a saison in style, but they are whimsically calling it a "super saison".

As for availability, they say: "available at select locations during Philly Beer Week  and will debut this weekend (Friday 6/1 and Saturday 6/2) at the Visitors Center for sale in 12 oz bottles and growlers."

Further details are below...

From the Weyerbacher website:

SEVENTEEN! The Seventeenth Anniversary beer is here!

It’s been seventeen years since Dan Weirback decided to brew beer for a living – and WOW, what a ride!

This new brew commemorates our seventeenth anniversary.  As with all of our anniversary brews, the aptly-named “Seventeen” is 10.5% abv.  It’s a saison-style, too…  so we’re going with the term “Super Saison!”  Seventeen is brewed with grapefruit peel, sweet and bitter orange peel, lemon peel and pink peppercorns and is delightfully refreshing for such a big brew!

Seventeen will be available at select locations during Philly Beer Week  and will debut this weekend (Friday 6/1 and Saturday 6/2) at the Visitors Center for sale in 12 oz bottles and growlers.

troegs logo(Hershey, PA) - Tröegs has an update about their Scratch Beer #65. It was just released last week (May 25th). The style is a Kolsch, which seems perfect given the hotter weather coming up.

From the Tröegs website:

SCRATCH #65-2012 – Kolsch RELEASE DATE: 5/25/12

Brewed as his wedding beer by Jeff “Moose” Musselman, Scratch #65 is designed for maxxin’ and relaxin’. Starting with an all-organic grain bill, this Kolsch is light pale in color and unfiltered to retain yeast notes. The malt gives a full body and mouth feel with complementary fruity flavors coming from the Kolsch yeast and Amarillo hops.

At 4.8% ABV and 34 IBU, Scratch #65 is best enjoyed on a sunny day relaxing under a big shade tree. Congrats to Moose and Andrea!
