Surf Brewery

New brewery that opened up recently in Ventura.  Its just off the 101 so will be handy for those of us that are road tripping in that direction.  They fill growlers, make a DIPA and have a "Hop Rocket" (Randall)

•  Ventura, CA.   Located less than five miles from Surfer’s Point, will be Ventura’s Surf Brewery®. The only craft microbrewery bottling their own beer in Ventura County. Combining two passions of its local founders; surfing and beer. ‘Unfortunately as I get older, I spend more time doing one over the other...,’ states local Co-Founder Bill.

•  ‘Actually, we are not about quantity but quality! We want to continue the great tradition of California breweries, like Adam Schuppert Brewery, the first in California started in 1849, Anchor Brewing Co., considered the first craft beer in America and the New Albion Brewery considered the first microbrewery in the U.S. We strongly believe California Breweries are the best in the World!’

•  Co-founder Doug, has years of brewing experience, multiple local beer recipe awards, and belongs to VIBE (Ventura Independent Beer Enthusiasts). Doug says, "We will be focusing on a wide variety of beer styles, from lagers to big strong ales. Many seasonal beers will only be available at the brewery, keeping things local. "

•  The brewery, located in an industrial park off Market Street, will have a large tap room for tasting the fresh brew. Kegs, bottles and Growlers will be available for take-away. We will also supply a complete line of quality Homebrew supplies and ingredients. Co-founders Denny & Keith mention, "We currently have to go to SLO or Woodland Hills to pick up our homebrew ingredients, not any more!" For the young groms, we will have homemade sodas.

•  The décor of the brewery will be a combination surf & beer museum. Ventura County local surf history; Morey-Pope, Campbell Bros, Walden, & William Dennis surfboards. Surf videos and movies will be playing constantly on the big screen TVs. History of California Beer memorabilia as well as current brewery displays.

•  To support the efforts that Surfrider Foundation is doing at Surfer’s Point, 3% of total sales, not just profits, will be donated for this local effort.

I'll give it a try next time I go up that way (probably Thanksgiving). I still need to get to Figueroa Mountain, Tap It, and Pismo assuming they all allow tours. Driving 101 when I travel from LA to the bay area is too much fun when you have 25-30 breweries on the way.

A growler of DIPA run through a filter of hops definitely has me curious
