Bitter Brewer hop substitution, no Glacier
« on: June 25, 2011, 03:05:31 PM »
The LHBS didn't have any Glacier.  They recommended any American hop basically, so they're basically helpless.  On hand I have Centennial, Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe, Columbus, and Chinook(also Fuggle, Willamette, Saaz, and Hallertau).  They also didn't have Brit II(this fucking place is killing me) so I grabbed a London ESB(1968) and was thinking about using Centennial and a touch of Columbus(I have a bunch of Amarillo so maybe a touch of that for some extra fruitiness?) and just seeing what I end up with.

Looks like I'll be buying online from now on since the 2 LHBS's can't seem to keep anything in stock.

The 007 they had was a few months old and I'm doing a 3gal batch and didn't want to have to make a starter.  I thinking I'll just use the 1968 on another mild and pitch another BW on top of that cake... and do the Bitter Brewer right when I can get the proper ingredients.  Thanks for the help, though.
