Looks like my TBS shirt is in the laundry... Guess you will have to look for OC and I will probably be close by.

Haha, that's alright. In case I miss you, I will most likely be wearing a Devil Dancer shirt and sporting a handlebar moustache.

There is a picture of beagle in his profile here.  That should make finding him easier.

That's HOT!

I got back from Michigan today. Founders Fest was great! The Founders Fest Wheat, which tasted like the Dumbo Head I had last year was awesome, better than Gumballhead.

My moustache was the star of the show, nary a minute had passed before I was complimented by a complete stranger. There were many pictures taken of it and even some videos, so perhaps some shall surface onto the web.

What's Nemesis?  People on BA are going crazy trying to figure out what this beer is.  Apparently it's listed on the Founder's website.  Who's got the info?

It's a rotating recipe beer that will be different year to year.  It's about the only thing the Founders guys didn't want to talk about at GABF.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but it looks like Nemesis is slipping to Feb/March time frame:

"It was reported in June that Nemesis would be out in December, but Kosmicki said that won't happen now. Whatever it is, don't expect to see it on tap or in bottles until at least late February or early March."

Here's a link to the article, but they still won't spill the beans on what it is:

Founders Nemesis 2010 now available

Founders Brewing has kept the release of Nemesis 2010 one very quiet to the point where the first internet mention came less than a week before the beer hit shelves. Word on the street is that this wasn’t supposed to be stocked until September 1st but as often happens with Founders, the beer leaked out to shelves a bit early.

Paul Hayden from The Wine and Cheese Place broke this on Friday. Here’s the beer description he got: “The 2010 release of Nemesis is best described by our brewing team as “a dark barley wine that pours black with a subtle mahogany hue. Brewed with 5 malts and no shortage of hops for a pleasantly bitter booming flavor. Roasty and toasty with a multitude of tastes that melts on your tongue.’”

This is, of course, different from Nemesis 2009, “a Maple Bourbon barrel aged wheat wine holding 12% ABV and 70 IBUs.” That beer didn’t make it onto shelves until late this past winter so the quick release of Nemesis 2010 is certainly a surprise.

Founders replied....

-----------

Hey folks. Not real happy with this read. Let me reassure everyone that Founders fully intended to release the 2010 Nemesis throughout distribution on September 1st. In fact, quite a few of our distributors haven't received their allocations yet.

Unfortunately a few of our wholesalers must have missed a key sentence in their Nemesis letter they received on 7.20.10.

Founders Wholesalers,

We are happy to announce an earlier than expected release of our 2010 small batch anniversary ale, Nemesis. In the past we have set the release for December and if you recall the 2009 release was held back till February of this year for the beer to properly mature. But as an anniversary ale, the style and recipe changes each year and our efforts to schedule this beer provided us an opportunity to ship the 2010 Nemesis early to our wholesaler network. We will start shipping this product to some wholesaler's this month and to all other's by the end of August for a September 1st release to your retailer's. No sooner please!

Some have asked if this was a "marketing strategy" to leak product to certain states to increase the "buzz". Horseshit! This creates pissed-off retailers and customers who feel that they've been slighted for other states. I know these things can happen but it creates a hell of a lot of unnecessary e-mails, headaches and damage control. We would much prefer to spend our time doing what we do best, keep those tanks full.

Sorry for the rambling.

Cheers,
Dave Engbers

foundersbrewing    As some of you know, our 2010 Nemesis was released early in 1 market. We're asking all of our distributors to stay true to our official... September 1 release date and appreciate your patience as you anticipate the release of this one-of-a-kind brew in your area.

http://www.mlive.com/kalamabrew/index.ssf/2011/04/founders_brewing_co_to_release.html

GRAND RAPIDS — Founders Brewing Co. president Mike Stevens said his Grand Rapids microbrewery will begin selling 750 milliliter bottles of specialty beers this summer.

Stevens said Friday morning the staff has not decided which beers will be bottled, but he expects to put some of the "popular one-offs from the taproom" in bottles.

Stevens said part of the almost $7 million expansion to the brewery has given them more flexibility with packaging. He expects to release two or three beers this year.

"It's exploratory packaging for us where we do what we want, when we want," he said.

wait.. this article was released on April 1 <_<

Sounds realistic enough, but April 1 leaves me suspicious.

April fools is funny to an extent, but when you have to fact check every single piece of news that gets released that day, it gets a bit old.

Negative.  It is not funny.  It is ####ing irritating from the minute I wake up on 4/1 until days later, like above, when we're still trying to figure out if something is real news or not.

Founders Brewing Co - Tap Room
?2011 Devil Dancer...NOW ON TAP...soon available in bottles everywhere! Come down to the Taproom and try one tonight at the Big Organ Trio show, or Saturday for Seth Bernard & May Erlewine @ Founders Brewery - Grand Rapids!!!

Founders Brewing Co - Tap Room
Now on tap: Cashew Mountain Brown; perhaps the most complex of our Mountain Brown series, it's an Imperial Brown Ale aged on cashews in maple bourbon barrels for 287 days, then aged on even MORE cashews for another 3 weeks for that extra, EXTRA nuttiness...10% ABV and absurdly delicious. Get after one soon, ONLY in the Founders Taproom!!

"Hey Folks,

The Founders' All Day IPA launch in SE Michigan was a bit premature. Founders had planned a February 6th launch in several targeted markets. Unfortunately an e-mail was missed and our wholesaler moved the product out 5 weeks early. We are still holding strong to our original release early February launch in Ohio, Chicago, North Carolina and the remainder of Michigan. We apologize for the confusion.

Cheers,
Dave
===========================

"When we have a release date it is necessary for our shipping department to coordinate allocations with our wholesalers to make sure they all have the appropriate amount of product when the beer is released. To maintain proper inventory levels of our entire portfolio, occasionally, we have to ship product in stages. I agree we are all about promoting drinking pale ales and IPAs quickly but five weeks is a fairly short window."

:furley:

i'm no genius and all but an IPA gets sent to distributors so it can sit in a warehouse for 5 weeks before being sent to retail and the brewer says it's ok?

It'll be limited to one bottle a customer so who cares anymore?!
