GB has running water, paved streets, and trash collection.  For most of the people in this state, it might as well be Paris.

Pretty hard business model to make work.  Hard to make much when you're only open 2-3 days a week and it's a good drive for most.  Size of the setup makes means distribution to hit a larger audience requires contract brewing or building a new, bigger brewery.

Sad to see it go though.  I'm sure I'll drop out there to check things out with whoever buys it but it certainly won't be the same nor will the beers ever be the same.

Actually...I'm fairly sure that was one of the main bigger reasons to move on, a contract Dave was looking to renew to have Matacabras and Select back out in the market like the prior year to this one, along with a series of single hop lagers fell apart when he was out bid again like the year prior.

Any word on where he may be off to?

No real word as of yet, but most likely some where in eastern WI.

Received word on where Dave and Pam will be moving to next Summer...

La Crosse, WI.........or at least nearby there......

Looks like Pam has been accepted into a new teaching position at Viterbo University as an assistant professor.

Not sure where Dave will end up as far as brewing yet...my guess is, and this only a guess, he might do assistant type stuff at Pearl Street. But he is keeping his options open for awhile before really deciding anything.

Might find out more after Thanxgining since I will most likely be there for one of the open hour days that weekend.

Two new saisons at the farm yesterday...

one made with rye

another, a French version with a late addition of fresh lemon peels

Both fantastic and refreshing.

Also, our engagement story has fast become legend there.

Yup, and filling growlers too.

But the supply is limited as well as the time frames for which they will be available for purchase between now and the closing.
After that, I'm not exactly sure what the plans are, but he does plan on still brewing, just in much smaller quantities.

Well, the Brewfarm will limp on for good while longer...

5 days before the closing was to take place and after four long months of training in the person with the brewing equipment.

They dropped out of the deal! No money was exchanged.

And they are needing to start all over again in trying to sell.

Luckily for Dave, there's two other very interested parties, one would turn the place into a brewpub restaurant type establishment and not use the living space upstairs. That would be the restaurant area instead.

The other party would just live there and maybe have Dave in from time to time to brew?

It's all up in the air for now, hopefully someone will move quickly on the opportunity so Dave and his wife Pam can move forward.

In the meantime, Dave is still staying at the Brewfarm most of the time while Pam is in LaCrosse, and Dave will continue to brew more delicious brews and is planning on having open taproom hours the entire Thanxgiving weekend - Fri.Sat.Sun 3 -7

I highly recommend getting out there on one of those days to enjoy his newest creations - they're amazing!

For those making the trek out this 3-day weekend (from 3-7 each day - roads are A-OK by the way) we're pouring some tasty treats: BrewFarm Breakfast Lager, Saison du Fredonia, Mosaic Single Hop Lager, When Sprites Attack and a few other gems (in liters, we have both Mocha Diablo and Matacabras!). Well, it's been some time now since the decision by Dave to sell the Brewfarm.
He's been fairly quiet on the subject over the last couple of years due to his split with Pam
and riding out his last days actually still living there and making/selling his brews.
Which when he could open to sell the stuff he did, which wasn't often enough for us to go visit very much.
We were last there in Nov. 2019...

Anyways - here's his latest posting from FB, July 7, 2020:

"It’s time.

I’m formally announcing the “For Sale” of the BrewFarm. While it had been for sale in the past, and life changes had me maintaining all things BrewFarm for the past two+ years, the sale is now my primary focus.
Opportunity, as they say, is knocking.

Having learned from past attempts at selling, there are two possible scenarios: one is selling the BrewFarm as a turn-key brewery asset sale - all the pieces are in place for someone to step right in and hit the ground brewing immediately (once fully licensed, that is…).

In order for that to happen, the buyer(s) MUST have the “Two C’s”: Cash and Competence! Owning and operating a successful brewery is neither inexpensive nor for the faint-of-heart. Turns out “Living the Dream” is a helluva lotta work! If done well, the rewards are truly plentiful.

The other scenario is I selloff the brewing equipment, and sell the BrewFarm as a food production-ready hobby farm (with very little modifications, the brewery can become FDA-Approved for all manners of commercial food production). Frankly, the potentials of the BrewFarm are only limited by your imagination (and let’s be honest - time and money…).
