***OFFICIAL*** Breweriana Photos Thread
« on: January 29, 2010, 09:24:57 AM »
Any collectors here?  Do you have anything cool you can share photos of?  I know there are some folks who are all about it.  I've got a buddy who has several rooms in his house just filled with stuff like this.

I have a hand full of old beer trays from maybe the 20's to the 50's and a few tap handles and bottles openers that my grandfather gave to me before he passed away.

I just finished building my kegerator (well almost) and I decided to put some of it to use:

The taps have actual blue ribbons in them:

I'll upload a better pic of the tray, as well as some pics of the others.

i have a bit of the collector gene but haven't gotten in to breweriana. yet.

the only thing i have that could possibly be called breweriana is a 24oz Old Style glass that has the GB Packers 1984 schedule painted on the side

I bought one of those at Goodwill once, and gave it to a Packers-fan buddy in CA as a joke.

I love old breweriana, and have a small collection of stuff. The 20th century design and classic typography appeal as a designer, and some stuff just plain looks cool.

Over the summer, we were in Door county WI and I brought home a book on WI breweries and this can:

Saw this tray at the same antique mall, and almost pulled the trigger. I think they wanted $40-50 though.

These are a few of my favorite cans:

That's too bad, but I guess everybody has to charge ebay prices to stay in bidness.

Wisconsin has had so many breweries over the years, i'm sure there are some goldmine collections out there.
There was a cool place in Fountain City, WI called the Monarch Public House that had a ton of old labels and vintage beer stuff framed on the walls. The interesting was that it was all from that immediate region, and mostly stuff i'd never heard of. They also had a stuffed albino deer in the basement

If you're really interested in this, get yourself a hotel room over the 4th of July weekend in NE Wisconsin.

There are literally 10s of 1000s of rummage sales; it's sort of an annual event.

Folks know that the FIBs (Friendly Illinois Brethren) come up nort' with pockets overflowing with cash to buy up all our crap er, I mean, "collectible items".

Seriously, I've bought TONS of breweriana, mostly glasses, pitchers, serving trays, signs, can openers, etc. Even some real cool Menominee Beer cone-top cans.

I think I still have a People's beer can opener. Shoot me your addy and I'll send it to ya. You've already got the can.

$40 - $50 for that People's serving tray is "pretty darn reasonable", BTW.

I'm only casually into collecting, but thanks for that tip and the generous offer. There's a few annual BCCA shows here, i've been to one once but stuff there was pretty pricey. The only cone-top cans I saw were upwards of $175 :o: I think there's one at Serb Hall near Discount in MKE too (you'd know better than me). I think I left with an 80s-90s Goose Island coaster and that was it.

That's exactly what I was referring to. 10s of 1000s of individuals having rummage sales, cleaning out the cabins, barns, taverns, etc.

I went to one estate sale (locally) that listed "old phonograph". The "old phonograph" turned out to be a vintage 1900s Victor V Talking Machine.

A $2500.00 machine, that I purchased for $400.00.

Real nice for listening to my Fritz Kreisler (<<<<<) records.

That's an awesome find
There was an estate sale on my block last year, a little old lady had a Garrard 301 turntable that had been discontinued in 1965, and worth :$:
Refurbished ones go for crazy money. Guess what was already sold by the time I found out about it... :(

what is that?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Albion_Brewing_Company

I would like to think it tasted nothing like that throw up back that Sam Adams made last year as a "copy" of the original recipe.

I would love to taste the original (fresh) and Balantine for that matter.

Embossing reads "Berliner Weiss Beer - KP - Chicago, Ill."

Pretty badass that there was Berliner Weiss being brewed in Chicago at the turn of the century...

Just curious, what breweriana stuff are you ISO of?

I'd like to find a vintage Stag sign or a Hamms motion "scene-o-rama" sign.

Also ISO this Hanssens sign (not holding my breath though):

another ISO:
This Orval sign was made in 2003, and seems to go for a lot these days...

If they ever made this into an enamel sign, that would be badass.

Pretty good price for a sign 5 ft wide practically. Idk if Ballantine is a sought after thing though.

This thread came up in a google search, lol.

I’ve slowed down on collecting stuff, but still manage to find a couple coasters/labels a year. Still trying to figure out a good way to display them. Tracked this one down, pretty obscure one with little info about the history:

Picked a weizen glass from the alley today, “Valentins Weissbier”. Just sitting there with a Duvel glass, an apothecary bottle, and a woven basket tray.

This thread came up in a google search, lol.

I’ve slowed down on collecting stuff, but still manage to find a couple coasters/labels a year. Still trying to figure out a good way to display them. Tracked this one down, pretty obscure one with little info about the history:

I found a shred of info about this place recently. La Pomme was a cafe on the northern Belgian coast that specialized in kriekenlambik and grey shrimps. A famous Belgian author spent summers there with his family and wrote a famous book there in the 30's. This was taken from his autobiography.

Something completely different, here's a cool Wisco beer can at the National Brewery Museum in Potosi.

Anyone interested in a full set of 30 Belle Vue Lambic coasters that detail out the lambic making process in cartoons? An example of one is in this eBay link. They're yours if you pay shipping.
