Who's got a 2nd liver for me? Too many damn beer events going on in the next week or so... let's sort em out here.

Today at Twisted Spoke, 20 Stone taps. :coffee:
The one on Ogden?

Yeah, the one on Clark closed a couple years ago.

Some good beers in here: http://twobroscbc.wordpress.com/other/

Missed all the Stone events this weekend...oh well.

Yeah, at least one from each... from BA: Todd is bringing his Totality Imperial Stout, Matt is bringing his Expresso Stout, and Brian is bringing his Hi-Fi Rye.

"Beers will include an oatmeal stout, barrel-aged imperial stout, and a rye barleywine, plus other surprises!"

Very solid all around. Nice prices, high quality food. I had a tasty pork shoulder sammy, and double-fried frites.
Since it was opening day they weren't doing bottles, just drafts. It was getting crowded as I left. Only minor gripe I had was the teeny Cantillon Kriek... $7 for 6oz. You get double that at Map Room  <_< Other prices were right on par though, $5-7 range.

What's the story with Jake Melnicks?  Has anyone been here?   Might be doing a work/happy hour thing here tonight.  The tap list looks well above average.

I went there for an hour or so of their Surly/Stone event during CBC and was pretty impressed - especially since I had no clue it was a beer destination.  I wasn't sure how their draft lineup would be other than the event, but they have lots of taps.

When they hosted CBC events, they had a superior tap list. About a month before I checked it out, it was above average but nothing amazing. I recall Daisy Cutter & Metro drafts being $6.50 <_<

Their prices are high and they charge taxes above the listed price.  The atmosphere feels like a sports bar but the clientele seems older than other beer bars.  I had some food there and it was not very good.  The service was good, I must say.

I was with Matt, Jay and Joe for the opening and I was pretty impressed.  The food is more upscale than most bars but fairly priced.  I had the pork belly sandwich which was tasty but a bit dry.  There was a lot of meat on it with a good balance of fat.

As as an aside, their whisk(e)y selection is extensive with some being quite cheap especially in comparison with other bars that have similar selections.

I will never go to Jake Melnicks again unless they have something spectacular on tap. The place is like a glorified TGIFridays.

Stopped back in Fountainhead tonight and the place was wall to wall jammed. Got a seat at the bar about 10 minutes in, ran into a few friends and it opened up a bit after 11. The bourbon/Scotch selection is where it's at. The prices are dirt cheap and the pours are healthy. Phil, formerly of Sheffield's Beer School bar, was telling me that in the near future they are getting incredible, special releases of all sorts of whisky. I have a bad feeling this place will be very crowded from this moment forward. The taps have already been drank through fairly well in two nights but the bar staff is already humming at full speed. Sounds like there will be plenty of good beer flowing day and night.

Metropolitan Alt = Cash money

Melnick's has BBQ though, anyone had it before?
I'd say for where its located, its pretty much what you'd expect. Better than average beer selection, lots of tourists and big groups. Pretty long bar though, so you can separate yourself from the madness if need be. I'm glad to see they support the local micro scene, but 99% of the time i'll be drinking at Clark St. or Rock Bottom if in that area.

Sounds like there will be plenty of good beer flowing day and night.

was the rooftop beer garden open?  any idea when that will happen?

Revolution looked like it would be crazy busy forever, but hasn't that mellowed out a little?

Supposedly they're shooting for July. Doesn't look like much work has been done up there yet
