Gabe mentioned they will eventually have guest taps and craft sodas in the tasting room/store. Growlers are in mason jars for now, so BYO growler is recommended. Fresh Daisy Cutter...mmm-MM!

An insanely hoppy India Red Ale called Ginger Twin is slated to come out for growler fills in 2-3 weeks with 22oz. bombers to follow shortly after.  Head brewer Gabe says it will be hoppier than Daisy Cutter  :pickle:

They also have their own, proper brown-jug growlers available.  $16 with the jug, $12 for refills (for ANY beer they have on tap) and they will still fill any outside brewery's growlers  :excited:.  House brewed craft sodas are also available for samples, usually a new one every week or two.  No growlers for those.

Gabe mentioned to us a few weeks back that they are thinking about an IPA this year and then possibly a Wild.

They are currently aging something in I believe a pinot barrel if i recall correctly...

From Half Acre's Blog:

"We realize that this beautiful weather is only a trick, and that the sky will inevitably open up to throw ice, snow and cold down on us, but hell with it, we're calling it:  It's spring!

That's right, Spring!

What goes better with warm weather than hand made beer?  Nothing.  And maybe you're saying to yourself, nope, "X" goes better..........well, maybe you're right, but now add beer to that warm day and your "X," and there you go, it's then even better.

In honor of the ability to melt the icicles from your mind, we're giving you "2 for $20 Tuesdays." (price does not include the growler jug)

Every tuesday you can swing by the brewery, buy two growlers for $20.  That's not a bad deal, and should help to make your warm weather mid week a sure fire success.

Cheers,

When I talked to Gabe about it last friday on our tour he said 2-3 weeks but sounds unsure and didn't give an exact timeframe/date.  It will be soon though, they are indeed 16oz. cans (they had palates and palates of them around the brewery  :excited: ), and they should be 8.99 just like Gossamer  :pickle:

From the HA beerblog this morning:

Quote
The time is now.
As Chicago Craft Beer Week rumbles along, today we release the Double Daisy Cutter Pale Ale / Doble Cortador. You'll find the same amiable attributes of our friend, Daisy Cutter Pale Ale, but with more knock-you-down authority to take command of your blood alcohol level & state of mind. 8.5%abv & a reckless amount of pacific northwestern hops.

We always hope the best for our beers as we see them from grain to glass, and in this case, we feel we touched down directly in the wheelhouse. We're glad to get this beer out during a great week for craft beer.

This beer was brewed in Limited quantity. Where it will land is still up in the air. One thing for sure, it won't be around long. We'll have it for sale at our store when it opens today (starting right now) for $9.99 per bottle(max 5 per person). We'll be filling growlers for at least a little while, but not all that long -- we'll try to last through the night, depending on how many folks show up. Growler fills will be $15(max 1 per person).

Cheers,

Half Acre Beer Co
Chicago, IL
