Should we take a cab home, Jesus?
Shit man, we can hoof it from here.
I know you can walk on water...
But can you walk on this much beer?

OEC's online store, still available. They still have a good bunch of B. United import swag for sale, some is "out of stock" but it doesn't show that until you click the item page.

One of the weirder places in Belgium, serving a tasty Oud Bruin blended with sour Kriekenbier.

Dusted off this glass, it’s been... 10 years maybe?
The beer is ok, it has a nice balsamic quality, a little too sweet for me.

That was my very first sour. Bought it off the shelf without any prior research, probably because the label is beautiful. I remember the "I don't know what this is, but I like it" reaction

I looked at the Vienna glass at Half Acre, printing looked a little cheap imho. I think it's a reprint batch.

This is a nice one from Oedipus Brewing in Amsterdam. Int'l. shipping is nuts, don't see myself getting this one.

The Ommegang was pretty good, an interesting blend of "oud bruin", "kriek", and a cherry beer that sat in sherry barrels for a long time. Didn't get any oud bruin, and their source for kriek is Liefmans, who only makes a cherry beer (mixed ferm). Fairly vinous, bright with lactic tartness. Tiny bit of Brett as it warmed up.

Winking Lizard has a beer tour and if you finish it they invite you to a party with tons of food and beer. They had tubs of this beer available. I drank so much of it, then they sent me home with armfuls. Love it.

A late summer ode to drinking from a krug

Seemed more appropriate for this thread. I highly endorse this practice... stoneware krugs keep beer colder longer, and you do get a little bit of cool air wafting up from the mug. Also good for coffee, works both ways as an insulator.

this is one of my fav glasses. It was made for a beer fest that took place in StL in 2003.

I never lived in StL, never been to this fest, never even heard of this fest, and just started drinking craft beer.  But in 2008 I saw this glass at a beer tasting. The owner of the glass did not want to trade me. So, I went Ratebeer and found another person with this glass.  I traded for it and have held on to it for over a decade despite numerous moves. It also continues to be common in my rotation of glasses that I actually drink from.

Something about that glass design always seemed odd to me, the shape I guess. I rarely use a weizen glass but that one is an old one from the Hacker-Pschorr Braürosl Oktoberfest tent.

Best thing I did was buy a couple krugs from Quenchers Saloon (1979-2018) when they closed down.

Dark mahogany, a compact layer of tan foam that recedes to a patchy skim. In the light it has a dark reddish glint to it, good clarity. Aroma is the highlight, vinous and nutty, trappist yeast esters. Red grapes, dates, and toasted nuts. Malty and yeast forward with some grape juice, nutty malt complexity, and mild bitterness in the aftertaste. Fairly astringent, feels a bit thin as a result. Coarse carbonation. Overall it’s ok but could use more body and creaminess.

Moment of silence... a favorite glass got smashed on the floor last night. :hot: It was a De Neve mini mug that I inexplicably found at a curio shop in the Lake of the Ozarks. One of the coolest finds I can remember, hopefully it'll show up on the bay someday.
