In
Beer. It always seems like such a good idea at the time. What's worse is beer seems like an even better idea after you've had some beer.

Fitger's is going to be there.  We talk about them a lot on here, but there isn't a whole lot of pub for them elsewhere.  Check them out for sure.

Oakshire is bound to have some good stuff with Matt Van Wyk brewing there now.

Pelican does some good stuff, especially if they bring any of the 750ml beers.

Piece does good wheat stuff.  Dark and Curvy is a solid brew.  I like their DIPA too.

Schooner's is one I've wanted to try for a while.  Very small, but lots of good talk about their stuff.

utah brewers collective is good (small beer never tasted so good)
foothills for sure. (solid beers all around, try them all)
papago and snake river, both good spots. snake river has a stout that has almost won as many awards as alaskan's porter, for entry years.
(*meaning the porter has been in longer, but the stout has won on the average that porter has won)
rhyder74 on ps4.

As a homer, I'm sure Firestone will have some awesomesauce there. Double Double Barrel, Abicus, or some other concoction that Matt will make. They had the first trial run of Double Jack there a few years ago.

Aloha Friends!

Tickets for this year's GABF are sold out! Tickets went on sale in June and sold extremely fast. 3362 beers were entered into this year's competition and 2100 beers from 495 breweries will be sampled on the festival floor.

For those of you who will be attending, stop by our booth to say "Aloha" and to sample our trio of packaged microbrews as well as two of our pub favorites.  "Big Swell IPA", "Bikini Blonde Lager" and "Coconut Porter" are our canned products and the pub beers we are presenting this year are "Milk of Amnesia Stout" and "Smoked RiPA".  We are looking forward to seeing you!

As usual, Maui Brewing Co. logo merchandise items will be available in the hall.  Dates for the 2010 Great American Beer Festival have already been announced:  September 16-18, 2010.  Tickets for the 2010 event will go on sale next June.

Nope-"floor" beers and "judge only" beers, all "floor" beers get judged,"judge only" is not served on the floor
I think you can only pour 5 beers on the floor? So ,many breweries send 10+ beers. We send our limited production stuff to judge only, cuz we don't have much of it

well, I was thinking we could set up a meeting time during 1 of the sessions at 1 of the breweries, OR I vote we pick a time to meet at Dry Dock Brewery.  Friday sometime?

FIRKIN FRIDAYS!!!!

I think I might be able to swing down on Friday if that is the plan at Dry Dock.  I haven't seen the new place yet and I ended up talking to Kevin and Jim most of the weekend.

The Firkin at Dry Dock this Friday is Passion Fruit Blond.  Tapping is generally at 3:00.

Also, here is the tap list from their website:
HMS Victory ESB (Extra Special Bitter Ale) - GOLD MEDAL, 2006 World Beer Cup ®, Special Bitter or Best Bitter.  SILVER MEDAL, 2007 Colorado Sate Fair, Extra Special Bitter.

HMS Bounty Old Ale (English Old Ale) - BRONZE MEDAL, 2008 World Beer Cup, Old Ale Category.

Breakwater Pale Ale - our aggressively-hopped American pale ale.  The recipe changes a little every time!

USS Enterprise IPA (American-style India Pale Ale) - Our golden-colored American IPA that's hopped to the gills, yet balanced.  Dry-hopped with Amarillo hops.

Urca Vanilla Porter (Vanilla-spiced Brown Porter) GOLD MEDAL, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Colorado State Fair, Herb/Spiced Specialty Beer.
Paragon Apricot Blonde - It's back!  Fermented with shiploads of fruit, this easy-drinkin' ale is sure to refresh you on a warm, spring day!

Naked Porter - This robust porter is the same base recipe as our Urca Vanilla Porter, just without the vanilla!  A rich, full-bodied ale with hints of chocolate and coffee.  Real smooth!  5.3% abv.

U-Boat Hefeweisen - A traditional cloudy German wheat ale with a HUGE banana nose and hints of bubblegum and vanilla.  4.7% abv. OUT TO SEA!

Yellow Submarine Munich Helles - This is the lightest of our fleet with a rich Pilsner malt flavor and a crisp, light body.  This is one that'll keep you in port!

Rahab Belgian Dark Strong - This rich, full flavored Belgian ale has a complex dark fruit aroma with a taste that backs it up!  Served in 10 oz. snifters, this delicious ale won't last long!  9.3% abv.

Bismark Alt
- This German Amber Hybrid Ale uses an ale yeast at a cooler temperature, creating a clean, crisp dry finish with a malty flavor.  Not too bitter, not too sweet.  Just right!  5.3% abv.

Marzen/Oktoberfest - A wonderful malty German lager, with a nice, clean finish.  6.0% abv

Seven C's Double IPA - A wonderful big, rich, hoppy double IPA.  Made with seven hops that start with "C": Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Challanger, Cluster and Czech Saaz!  10.8% abv  $6/pint or $4/half pint.

Nitro Tap - Naked Porter!

The Seven C's is freaking amazing!!!

Bear Republic is going to have Trebuchet and Cuvee de Bubba along with some of the normals.  Guess I'm going to have to stop by their booth too.  My list is getting way too big.

The Bruery has sent a jaw-dropping 21 beers to the Great American Beer Festival to be judged. Blogger Chris Spradley notes, "They will have the Orchard White, Autumn Maple, Hottenroth Berliner Weisse, Saison Rue and Black Tuesday on the floor at GABF."

New Belgium brought out the big boys. Erics Ale, Le Terroir, transatlantique. Had tons of awesome beers and a couple awful ones. Uncle Billys had a bourbon aged red ale with sour yeast that was pretty damn tasty. Had more lambics and wild ales than I can remember. Overall it was a success. Oh yeah, I'm going to the saturday afternoon session too and am hitting Dry Dock this afternoon. Should be an awesome weekend.

Glad you liked the UB brew. They make some great stuff, but I wasn't digging on that wild ale.

Two Golds and a Silver for TX breweries. I'm pretty stoked. I LOVE the Uncle Billy's Hell in Keller. Totally worthy of it's gold medal.

CO dominated the awards. Homefield advantage?

Devils Backbone with 4 awards. I like the place but the beers are pretty average. Their lager won a gold. My buddy liked it so much he sent it back and asked for something else.
Beer. It always seems like such a good idea at the time. What's worse is beer seems like an even better idea after you've had some beer.

Why's that?  They're both excellent representation of their styles even if they aren't styles that may appeal to craft drinkers.

I think Red Dog was in the cream ale cat. and won bronze I would like to see what else went up against it.. I find it hard to believe that there aren't other cream ales then can beat it..
