Cellaring in a plastic cooler?
« on: June 18, 2009, 03:58:23 PM »
Any benefits/drawbacks of this?

My office is throwing away two decent plastic coolers (such as used for camping, etc.), and I was thinking I would grab em and take use them for cellaring.
I've currently got a bunch of bottles in various shipping boxes tucked in a corner of a closet, and I think this would be slightly more study, less susceptible to light, and higher capacity.

Thoughts?

Sounds like you have nothing to lose.  Just make sure you don't close any moisture in there.

He could throw a commercial dessicant in there just in case.

I have a big cooler for cellaring in the basement.  I haven't noticed any issues with it.

If you could provide a link of some sort, that'd be great.
