I popped an 06 recently and it's going downhill. Starting to thin out and the flavor is too mellow.

Hmmmm, think I still have one from DLD last year.  That'd make it an '07 right?  Or '08?  Any way to tell?

I find the Abyss, more so than most beers I've had, is hit or miss bottle to bottle.  I've had some below average bottles and some that were good.  You never know what you're getting with this beer, that's why I've stayed away from them for the most part.

I think I have 4 or 5 of these in the cellar.  I'll have to check one out in the next couple days to see how mine are doing?

I'll count myself lucky then.  I've never had a bad bottle.  I've had a number of the '07 in the past 6 months and every one of those has been outstanding.

I think it's time to get my vertical on.

I'd say let's plan on next week but I'm going to have some catching up to when I return home from this trip so I'll have to play it by ear.  If not next week, the week after should work.

Anyone drink theirs yet?
My '07 was divine, but I was hoping to keep the '06 a little while longer.
Quote from: J-Rod
I ended up drinking 9 times my body weight in beer, broke three glasses over my head, 7 over others, ordered up 17 hookers for a little afterparty, held a cabbie hostage while running his cab through the Madison capitol doors, and I grabbed gator's ass.

Not yet, but soon.  I think I have 4 of each '06 and '07.

I still have an 09. What's the word on the percentage of those that went bad? I figure if it went bad, it went bad. If it didn't should I just wait another year to get a good 2yr on it?

Half of the 09's I've drank were sour, the other half were good not great.

Drink the '09 and see.  If it's bad you can email Deschutes and they'll mail you a check for it.

Wish I would have done that. Drank a sour one a month or so ago and even tried blending it with a 2010 to make the rest of the bottle drinkable, but that didn't work either.
