:(

I just read that.  Someone else noted on another beer site that just before inbev bought bud that they were talking about doing this before.

so...... sold to Anheuser-Busch?

will the continue to operate as their own company and make the same beers?  will this just mean wider distribution?

speculate wildly within as to what will happen to beers like Nightstalker, etc.

We don't need to speculate, just look at what happened to Old Dominion.

I ended up drinking 9 times my body weight in beer, broke three glasses over my head, 7 over others, ordered up 17 hookers for a little afterparty, held a cabbie hostage while running his cab through the Madison capitol doors, and I grabbed gator's ass.

I'd like to think this is different, since OD was bought by a combo of Fordham and AB, with AB being a "minority" owner. Probably made sense for them to combine brewery operations.

GI head brewer/brewmaster leaving isn't a good start though.
Beer. It always seems like such a good idea at the time. What's worse is beer seems like an even better idea after you've had some beer.

The BeerAdvocate gathering is this Sunday at the pub from 3-6pm. Special guest John Hall and new Brewmaster Brett Porter will be there from 4-5pm to field questions you may have about the news we shared earlier this week. We will be sharing our Four Star Black Saison: 6.2% abv with an aroma and taste of chocolate, pepper and dark fruits like figs and dates. See you Sunday at the pub!

The last few (2010 included) have been too sweet with little to no tartness or funk
Thought it was just dumbing down, or the bugs didnt take off. hope they go sour again.

It's been a variable experience for me, sounds like it just affects certain batches.

312 is going to be brewed at an AB facility in New York

http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/food/stew/chi-goose-island-312-goose-island-moves-production-of-312-to-new-york-20110729,0,6702143.story

More space for better beers sounds good to me.

Although I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like every since they stopped brewing IPA here, it's a lot harder to find fresh bottles.  Not sure if it's just not selling as well now or if it's taking longer to get new product.

Not surprised.  From what I understood, they wanted to move 312 to Redhook, but it didn't work out for a number of reasons.

They're going to stop brewing Demolition.

Quote
I regret to inform you that Goose Island Beer Company has halted future production of Demolition, which was available in 22 oz bottles (4IE22’s). While we are still very proud of the beer and stand behind the product in the market, effective immediately, we will no longer make it available to our distributor network.

Goose Island Beer Company remains committed to dedicating our time and resources in the pursuit of brewing new and innovative beers that will continue to challenge our consumers. Dropping a small volume brand like Demolition frees up space for us so that our brewers’ creativity can excel. We thank you for your hard work in supporting all of our products and we look forward to providing you with new and exciting beers from the Goose Island Beer Company in the near future.

Glad I bought a bottle on the recent trip so I could try it before it disappeared.  I thought it was pretty good, but I would not have bought  it again since there are a lot of better options at that price point for my tastes.

Oh WTF, please don't let this be true.

From the twitter account of the beer manager of the Lincoln Park Binny's:  If you thought CBS was bad, wait til BCS comes out. I, for one, will not be ordering any. No Chicago love. #poorbrewerychoices

I miss being able to find BCS at Vas Foremost pretty much year-round. Those were some good times in 2009.

This was not the case with the 2010 batch.  Get what you can, while you can.  It will get worse before it gets better.

I still need a 4 pack of 2010 because I didn't realize how little had been shipped to the Fox Valley, in comparison to past years.  When I decided to restock, I was sorely disappointed to find that there was none left on the shelf.
Take good care of your beer and your beer will take good care of you.
