Upland Announces Lambic Reservation Dates

Upland Brewing Company has announced that Lambics can be reserved beginning September 1st and ending September 15th. Reservations can be made in person at the brewery or on our website.

Each customer is allowed to reserve 12 bottles (1 case) of Upland Lambic and a maximum of 3 bottles per each style is allowed.

All of our fruit flavors from last year will return: Blackberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry.

Three new fruit flavors will be available as well: Cherry, Kiwi, and Peach.

The Lambics have been fermenting in oak barrels supplied by Oliver Winery for more than 1 year.

While a release date has not been officially made yet (it's up to the yeast!), it should be sometime soon after the reservation period ends.

Cheers!

now I really must recommend that, if you get any of these lambics... you drink them sooner than later.
age was good on them, but not as much as a year. maybe 3 months... but they were good to go out of the bottle imo.

I also hope they stayed at $15 a 750... but prices these days... it'll prolly be $20.

Really?  One would think these type of beers would age well.  Thanks for the info.

I got to sample some of these at the Mad Anthony Octobeerfest over the weekend.  I think I tried all except the Kiwi, which went very quickly.

Big  for the Strawberry, Cherry, and Peach, all of which were wonderfully tart (OK, sour).  They all had a good Brett nose, but the others didn't follow through as well in the flavor.

As for the "news" part - expect a Gueuze in 2009, with a blend of the 2006, 2007, and 2008 base beers.  Per the brewer, it's "gnarly sour" right now.  :pickle:

It looks like Upland has announced the flavors for the next batch of Lambics:

Charles Stanley (the only Upland employee taller than Matt Hill) tells us next year's Lambics will include all those done in 2008 (Cherry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Strawberry, Raspberry, Peach, and Kiwi) plus Persimmon.

In recent years several pets have disappeared from boats anchored overnight on Lake Monroe.  The number of hikers reporting unusual noises and finding partial deer carcasses in remote coves and valleys has also increased, including one man who was institutionalized after claiming to have been attacked by a "flying dinosaur."  During our annual "Camp Upland" outing on the lake, several of our own staff and distributor sales people saw the beast at about 2am by the light of the moon - roughly six feet long, with large, leathery wings, gliding silently back and forth above the southeastern shoreline. It did not threaten us, but everyone felt a cold chill when it winged nearby.  Like the lone hiker who was attacked, our reports were dismissed by the Department of Natural Resources staff.  The area manager remarked, "You take 100 gallons of beer to a campsite and expect us to believe you saw a flying lizard later that night?"

We know what we saw. So as part of our ongoing effort to brew beer of the highest quality and provide consumers with new, interesting, and innovative beer experiences, Upland Brewing Co. will be releasing a new brew, Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA, in early January to lead off our 2010 seasonal lineup.

Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA is a well-balanced, dark, bitter, and totally unique beer experience. We brewed this IPA with a base of fresh Pilsner Malts and darkened the color with pure Black Malts, creating a clean malt character that allows the liberal hop additions to shine through. Komodo is dry hopped and aged with a pinch of lavender to add to the overall aromatic experience. Komodo has an ABV of 6.5%, 65.5 IBUs, and a Starting Gravity of 15.5.

We're unleashing the Komodo Dragonfly in our Bloomington Tap Room on January 13th. Look for it in six-pack bottles and on draught wherever Upland is sold shortly thereafter!

Brewmaster's Getaway
Join us at the Canyon Inn, McCormick's Creek State Park, on January 16th for some excellent food, good company, and great beer.

Our Head Brewer, Caleb, Staton, will lead a tasting of four Upland beers, discuss the brewing of beer, and answer any questions you've ever had about brewing but have been too afraid to ask.

Dinner will feature a range of excellent dishes cooked with Upland beer.
The package includes an overnight stay at the Inn, so you can make the most of your Brewmaster's experience.

Call (812) 829-4881 for details.

Brewer's Dinner
You'll have another chance to have dinner with Upland at Chef Mike's Charcoal Grill in Indianapolis on January 28th.
Dinner features a 4-course meal prepared with Upland beer. A different beer will be served to complement each course. Tickets are $30 before January 15th, $35 before January 28th, and $40 at the door,

Call (317) 295-9490 for tickets and information. See you there!

For those of you in Louisville, we'll be pouring samples of our Wheat Ale, Bad Elmer's Porter, Dragonfly IPA, and Winter Warmer on Friday, January 29th.
We'll be at the Outer Loop Valu Market (7519 Outer Loop, Louisville, KY) from 4:00 to 7:30 pm.
Whether you want to try one of our beers you've never had before or learn about an old favorite, this is a great opportunity.

We're finishing January off with a bang! Come find us at the 2nd Annual Indiana Microbrewers Winterfest, presented by the Brewers of Indiana Guild, on January 30th at the Indianapolis State Fair Grounds.

31 Indiana breweries will be there, and more than 200 beers, and tickets are only $30!

Tickets are available at Barley Island (Noblesville), Broadripple Brewpub (Indianapolis), Brugge Brasserie (Indianapolis), Lafayette Brewing (Lafayette), and Upland (Bloomington/Indianapolis).

From TEH Facebooks:

Upland Badder Elmer's Baltic Porter and Teddy Bear Kisses Imperial Stout were awarded Gold Medals at the BTIs World Beer Championships. Both are on draught in our Bloomington Tap Room and Indy Tasting Room, and later this year, you'll be able to buy Teddy Bear Kisses in 22 oz bombers!

I had TBK at FoBAB and it was most delicious.

“2010 for Upland means 22 oz. bottles of Ard Ri Imperial Red, Double Dragonfly IIPA, Badder Elmer's Baltic Porter, Teddy Bear Kisses Imperial Stout, and Winter Warmer, more bourbon-barrel-aged beers, a bigger launch of lambics, a dark wild launch, two releases of Komodo Dragonfly Black IPA, Banshee Scotch Ale, possibly a collaboration brew, possibly bottled Preservation Pilsner in returnable cartons and the continued supply of our excellent core line up. Those are things we are pretty sure will happen, but some mystery brews will surely pop up somewhere in the meantime (I have a real hankering to brew a beer called Pirate vs. Ninja involving darkness and rum barrels; that is probably something to be brutally wary of). We also look forward to Shoreline picking up our old bottling line and buying some six packs of their tasty brews next year. We look forward to more Indiana breweries and the continued success of our Hoosier brew community. As to the larger craft brewing industry, we look forward to another year of growth as a beer segment, and the beers that have yet to be brewed.”

Kiwi, Raspberry, and Persimmon lambics will be available for purchase at the Bloomington Tap Room beginning Monday, March 29th. Alongside these traditional Belgian sours will be a concoction of our own, Dantalion dark wild ale. (You should google Dantalion, it’s interesting.) Only a very small amount of these long-aged sour ales have reached full maturity, so if you want one, we recommend you get on our reservation list by emailing us at sours@uplandbeer.com.
Please be sure to include the following: Your first and last name, phone number, and which styles you would like. If we don’t get all your information, we may not be able to complete your order, so it’s worth a quick proof read.

Due to the scarcity of these sours, each person is only allowed one bottle per style. Your bottles will be available for pickup March 29th through April 12th. After that, your precious bottles will probably find another home…
Just come in to the Bloomington Tap Room, give the bartender your name, and prepare yourself to be delighted.

Dear Sour Supporter,

Thank you for your support and your quick response to our Lambic and Dantalion reservation! This release was extremely limited and highly sought after. This email is a CONFIRMATION showing that you were among the lucky few who made the cut. Please remember to pick up your sours between March 29th and April 12th at the Bloomington Tap Room. If you do not come within this allotted amount of time, your sour will find a new home. You will pay for you sours at the time of pick-up ($15/each). Stay tuned for another release of Lambics in the late summer. Thank you for choosing Upland! Enjoy!

Cheers!

Don't forget! We're celebrating the release of our Infinite Wisdom Tripel with Norton Wisdom and Cornmeal this weekend.
Festivities kick off on Friday with an art show and reception. If you're thinking that the idea of Upland and art receptions don't go hand in hand, you'd normally be right. But this is no stuffy black tie affair - just a chance to meet Norton Wisdom, the artist behind our Infinite Wisdom Tripel label, check out and buy some of his awesome paintings, and get a taste of the Tripel. 7pm, Upland's Bloomington Banquet Hall

The celebration culminates on Saturday at Jake's Nightclub, where Wisdom will be joined by local favorite Zion Crossroads and jam-bluegrass band Cornmeal from Chicago. Aside from great live music, you'll get to see Wisdom capturing the essence of the music as he paints on stage. If that isn't enough for you, Jake's will have Upland's Tripel, Wheat, Dragonfly IPA, Rad Red Amber Ale, and Bad Elmer's Porter on draught.
Doors open at 5:30, with Zion Crossroads starting at 7, followed by Cornmeal at 9.
Tickets are $10 in advance (available at Upland's Bloomington Tap Room, Indy Tasting Room, Jake's, and online at uplandbeer.com) and $12 at the door.

I got word from my contact at Upland that the Dantalion bottles are all flat, but they're hoping that they'll carb up eventually.  Sounds like some Lost Abbey bullshit to me, but I'm hoping for the best.

There's a sticker on the bottle that says to cellar it for a month I think. I was hoping they'd have this premature release thing behind them by now <_< oh wait

Reservations open tonight at 11:01pm CST, 12:01am EST
Strawberry, Blueberry, Peach, Dantalion, 1 per person. $20 ea. :hot: ($15 earlier this year)

Rumors of distribution in Indiana this time, but nothing confirmed by the brewery thus far.

My mule backed out... at $20/pop, I'm not too distraught.  Still, if anyone wants to... you know...

I got confirmation on all the bottles this morning except the blueberry. I find it strange all were available but that one. Unfortunately, that's the one I was most looking forward to.... :sadbanana:

Anybody that wants me to pick these up for them needs to reserve at the Indy Tasting Room.  Bunsfest delivery will be an option, but I will only be there Saturday and Sunday, not the full weekend.
