Great Taste 2022
« on: January 22, 2022, 03:00:48 PM »
Hey, my girlfriend and I are talking about the trip and wondering if there's any interest in potentially getting an Airbnb and splitting it between a bunch of us.  Any thoughts? I promise I'll put the toilet seat up this time
My friends say I'm like doing the laundry and forgetting the bleach: I'm not as bright as I could be.

I'd be in, if I'm going to make it this year. In laws have their 50th anniversary this summer, so might conflict.

Won't really know if I'm working until we get our events person hired.  Once I find that out I'll know more.

We booked a family vacation in August, but not the weekend of the Great Taste.  Not sure if I will be able to make it or not.

Chiming in to follow... might be up for making it back this year, and a shared Air BnB is of interest.

The disappointment is constant, so they never get too high or low.

Most likely Karben 4, because they have the most tickets and seems like most sane rules this year.

So, I just have to get my envelope to the post office tomorrow and have it postmarked tomorrow for it to be eligible for the lottery?

Today! May 1st postmark.

But never fear, there’s also a ticket pool here.

I assuming typically the 1st but b/c today is Sunday and that would be impossible, it is tomorrow.

Jaime walked the envelope into the post office this morning to ensure today's postmark.

Not that it really changes anything for most but it is like they forgot how to do this in two(three?) years since it has last happened.  So little "Trip" report

Weather sucked, temp wasn't bad(upper 40's, low 50's) but it was raining initially and then turned into just a mist/wind that never went away.

Karben4 was a complete shit show when I scoped it out and from the sounds of it remained that way. No one in the line had any clue where it ended. They fenced in an area for the line that was completely inadequate which lead to people setting up tents/canopies all over their property. Wasn't helped by the very first people(local beer group unaffiliated with MHTG) in line setting up a banquet type tent with 30+ people in it just getting shit faced. Karben4 staff weren't told or were incorrectly told what to expect and are pointing fingers at MHTG and MHTG is just throwing their hands up in the air saying we aren't responsible for your place. This lead to the confusion and no one taking ownership or trying to correct anything. I asked one bartender for some guidance and his response was it is a free for all until 8 am tomorrow at which you will potentially get a wrist band if you are lucky. Not blaming him, it wasn't his job to control the disaster but it really was a free for all at least for the little bit of time I was there. K4 pointing fingers on FB and blaming the people their and MHTG the next day was pretty funny. With all that said my understanding is everyone there still managed to get tickets ultimately.

Ended up at Vintage, which was much better run other than one of the MHTG guy counting every single bill and licking his fingers between each one, making it take forever to get through the line. There were extra tickets left over at vintage and it was a really late arriving line group. Had a friend arrive at 11:00am and he was number 156 in line out of the 250 total wrist bands. Not the biggest fan of Vintage though they have certainly improved on a lot of the QC issues they had now that they have an actual brewery, with that said big props to them. Their staff knew what was going on, they prepared ahead of time, they were out there talking, sharing and working with the crowd even overnight and through the morning. They seemed to be having fun with the whole thing and it certainly showed in the crowds general attitude.

Seriously? Gross. :-X

Glad you got tickets and didn't get stuck at Karben4, sounds like it was amateur hour. Lining up for hours with cash feels like last century now, wish they'd come up with a better ticketing solution.

We will be lodging in beautiful Fitchburg this year.  Can't just walk to State Street and the capitol, but half the cost.  And there's a shuttle to the fest from the Great Dane location right by the hotel.
