Anyone familiar with Von Trapp Brewing?
« on: February 25, 2021, 12:47:43 PM »
This brewery just got distributed to my area. I've had two beers and been impressed so far.

https://www.vontrappbrewing.com/von-trapp-lagers-and-beers.htm

The Dunkel was on point. The Berliner was nice. Will keep trying more of the available stuff.  Looks like its all lagers except the Berliner but the listed it as a lager on their site.

But, I was wondering if anyone drank their stuff, what you think, or if anyone has more insight.

Oh my GOD what a nice line-up.

I nearly shot off all over myself at the Maple Rauchbier.

WOULD DRINK (ALL).

Yeah yeah.

Assuming they don't all SUCK I know what I'd be jam-packing the DBF with.  :excited:

Von Trapp
Stowe, VT

https://www.vontrappbrewing.com

They claim Austrian, but they're mostly German styles.

Only in passing... never tried them.

It seems Maryland only got 12oz cans and includes the Dunkel, Vienna, Berliner, and Golden Helles (maybe Pils). As soon as I can get singles, I will be trying the other stuff.

I was thinking about you Stoney when I was posting this  :pickle:

I believe that this is the only all-lager brewery that is even available to me (again, not sure how they make their Berliner but its seems to be the only non-lager they package).

Yeah well, if you ever get your grubby mitts on any (and it's any good) let me know and maybe we can work out a TRADE.

I should have some bear meat to trade by September.

In case anyone is wondering, yes.  It IS THAT Von Trapp family.

I ended up drinking 9 times my body weight in beer, broke three glasses over my head, 7 over others, ordered up 17 hookers for a little afterparty, held a cabbie hostage while running his cab through the Madison capitol doors, and I grabbed gator's ass.

Visited their Lodge taproom in Stowe back in 2017, and really enjoyed the space.  Had a few of their beers during that trip, and thought they were excellent.

I’ve had the Heller, Berliner and Vienna since this thread and all were excellent.

But I though I’d revive the thread bc I just had Octoberfest and it was so spot on. This may be my favorite brewery in the US. I’m definitely batting 1.000 with these beers.

Probably darkening their doorstep this weekend, heading to Burlington and Waterbury with my GF to celebrate getting the back room and kitchen work completed.  Many doorsteps will be darkened.

had more of their beer.

They made a Maple Rauch and I had no idea that a beer made with maple could be not sweet crap.

Also, Trosten is a very mildly smoked dark lager. Though, I'd love more smoke.

Damn, I am officially a fan boy.

I've had a beer that was made with maple sap instead of water. The sugars ferment out in primary unless it's pasteurized, then it's sweet crap.

They did not have the maple on when I was there/  Dammit.  Trosten is my favorite of their beers, really nice balance between a rauchbier and a dunkel

All that said, I still prefer Jack's Abby - just cleaner overall.
