November starts in a week.

I will cut a motherfucker that suggests pumpkin/spice beers

I still haven't found a fresh hop beer for October.

How about Scotch Ales?

Are we talking just the "wee heavy" Scotch Ales? Or including the lighter "Scottish" (60/70/80 shilling) ales?

If we're going strictly with Scotland, I'd say include all of those.

If we're going just with the big ones, I'd say go with British strong ales (Wee Heavy, Strong/Old Ale, English Barleywine) - most will be under the 12% line we had for the "Big Beers" in January.

Same, casting a broader net always seems to work better. I've got Wee Heavies but like the idea of including other strong ales too.

Side note on a narrow style: it's been hard finding any Midwestern wet hops this year. :(

I like the Scotch Ales for this time of year.

I struggled finding many wet hop beers this year although, to be fair, I've haven't looked much.

Scotch would be cool. Will need to check out the import racks for that.

I haven't seen a single one locally.  But I don't know if I would recognize one anyway.

My bad, I was referring to fresh hop beers.  I love good scotch ale and am always looking for them.

Ohh. A lot of them can be draft only, but i've heard of maybe 5-6 packaged ones here. Mostly local breweries. Even so they're pretty elusive.

So it'll be Scottish/Scotch ales, then.

(I make the distinction out of my homebrew/nerd/judging background, where the lighter "Scottish" styles are a separate category form "Strong Scotch Ale")

I'm fine with Wee Heavy, I just didn't want it to be ONLY Wee Heavy & Skullsplitter.

Starting to see some "holiday" beers in the stores - grabbed a couple (Fistmas, Delirium Noel) in anticipation of the December BOTM selection

I still have another Scottish Ale to get to. I’m so slow on these nowadays. I think the holiday beers is good. Perhaps we should let it go 2 months?

Stout seems seasonally appropriate, and there’s a lot to choose from. :banned:

Porters would be good too, or dark lagers.

February seems a little early for dark lagers for me, I’m not quite ready to ratchet down the ABV yet.  Thought I haven’t really participated in the last few month’s threads, so take that for what it’s worth.

Don't think so. Maybe we can tack on Strong Ales too, in case there's any anti-barleywine sentiment.
