Zambaldi Beer (Green Bay)
« on: January 08, 2020, 03:35:01 PM »
New brewery set to open in GB in the next couple of weeks:  http://www.zambaldi.com/about

Not sure what to expect.  Their lineup seems pretty boring right now, but I remember when he was an assistant brewer at Titletown and I liked some of the beers created there.  I'll definitely check them out when they open.

I really dislike this trend of taprooms without food, but I understand why it is an easier way to go.  Hopefully they'll do food trucks once in a while.

On a side note, I see the head brewer/owner (or his wife) almost every morning at school drop-off, as his oldest kid started going there this year.  Oddly enough, the kids of the former head brewer at Titletown go to the same school, too.

PS ... I hate their logo and the "artwork" for their beers.  Looks like early 90's clip art.

MUST BE WHERE ALL THE BIG MONEY FAMILIES SEND THEIR KIDS

been wondering when that place would open. seems like a few years ago when it was announced. weird spot for it but what the hell.. maybe it will spur some changes around that neighborhood?

Yeah, it's been a long process, and I'm surprised they had the capital to buy land and put up a brand new building.  Seems like a big investment on a long shot.

No firm date for the opening yet, but he told me they are going to do a soft opening before the end of January, and then publicize the opening in the first couple weeks of February.

I came across the name while browsing current brewery lists for IL and WI. Noticed they have 1500+ ratings on untappd already, which is interesting for a brewery that isn't open yet. Unless they were rating their homebrew or already contract brewing.

They've been brewing (not sure where) for a while, and their stuff has been on tap at a few places around town, and at different events.

my favorite feature of that place is their marquee out front was just a jumbled series of letters mashed together, some laid over the top of the others, for years

Thats... bad.

The logo looks like two completely disinterested people, one telling the other "Drink up..."

That's a damn bocce ball on a plate.

Is there some local guy who sells meatballs?  If so, they better watch out, hes gonna be pissed.

And yes, I HATE lazy graphic design.  Too easy to do it well, even if it is difficult to do it perfectly.

Same here. Simple is fine, but lazy is abominable.

Stopped by for a couple of beers before dinner this afternoon.  Holy wow was the placed packed.  Parking lot was full, standing room only inside, and there had to be 150 people.  Ran into friends of ours who live close by, and they said they've been there 3 times already.

They aren't brewing on site yet, and you can see that they are still working on finishing the installation of the brewing equipment.  Had a bunch of guest taps, and their own 5-6 beers.  Meatball Man (alt) was OK, but overly carbonated.  Porter was pretty solid.  I'll definitely go back to check out more of their beers, especially once they are brewing on site.

Big open warehouse space with an L-shaped bar and a bunch of rectangular wooden tables packed pretty close together.  Kind of like a beer hall set up, with shared tables.  There is also a kids play area set up in one corner.  Had a food truck in the parking lot.  One thing I really liked is that they have a small counter space at one end of the bar for ordering and serving beer, so you don't have to try to squeeze in between people at the bar and try to get a bartender's attention.

Not sure how this place is doing during the pandemic, but they just started bottling recently.  Picked up a sixer of their Yard Games IPA - pretty good, Citra forward, very refreshing.

Also saw in the news that a local pizza "chain" (3 or 4 locations) is moving into the other side of their new building, so hopefully that will help business.

They have, but I haven't been going to any bars/taprooms.  Here is the current list (assuming it is updated as of October 8 ):

I know they've had the taproom open all this time, too, as well as food trucks multiple times a week.  Now that the weather sucks, I wonder what'll happen.

this being Green Bay and there being zero enforcement of limits or masks, i think they'll do just fine. especially once Gallagher's gets in there next door.

hopefully next summer going there will be an option. i'd like to sit outside, have dinner and a beer on their patio.

Bought sixer (bottles) the Good Dog Porter, and it was average. That's the best description I can come up with.
