Another Old School Brewery Has Fallen on Hard Times
« on: December 22, 2019, 09:54:02 AM »

Not sure how popular Fish Tale was on this site but I remember they were pretty desirable on Ratebeer for their big and barreled beers. But that was early to mid 2000s. It hasn't been relevant since then.

Apparently, the company owed over 4 mil to creditors and the couple bought this brand for less than a mil.

That’s not one I’m familiar with. Hopefully this turns out to be a good thing.

Should we take a cab home, Jesus?
Shit man, we can hoof it from here.
I know you can walk on water...
But can you walk on this much beer?

This.  They were illegally available in MN for a short period.  Big beers were good.  Mainstays were just ok.

Smooth Hoperator and Fat Dog were so good. Haven’t seen them around here in ages.

Not closing, but not looking so good for Left Hand. Can’t remember the last time I drank an LH beer, 10 years ago? They never really adapted to the times.

Yet they’re currently opening a Denver location, so who knows.

I still return to Left Hand and I find them to be worthwhile. My wife used to drink the shit out of the Milk Stout and I enjoyed the Back in Black series. I am not a nitro fan but that series has been interesting, I liked the Flamingo Dreams.

To be fair, I am drinking styles that aren't big sellers. It seems unless you have a high selling IPA or kettle sour and fruit series you aren't doing that well.

Same old story. Old school brewery sells to large company. Large company overestimated the growth of craft beer and shutters the brewery.

went there only once on one of my earliest trips to Portland, 2006 or so... pre Pyramid buyout, even then it didn't seem like a place I wanted to go back to.
