Madison, Sun Prairie ideas
« on: July 17, 2019, 10:36:32 AM »
Claire has a softball tournament in Sun Prairie this weekend. The club had put together plans for events for each team (Friday), and the whole club (Saturday). Apparently, those plans fell through at the last minute, so we need other ideas. Do any of the Madison peeps have ideas for a few softball teams and families? Range is 10U to 14U, and about 120 people.

For Friday, I am looking only for something for the 14U (Claire's team). The girls want to do something together like mini golf or similar, then dinner. This group would be about 35 people for dinner at least. The issue has been getting a spot with enough space for the numbers. Their only Friday game is 3:30 so around 6-7pm would be the start time. I'm still checking into golf or similar activity.

For Saturday, I need a space for 120 people (whole club) for dinner starting around 7ish. We tried to get Pooley's, but they have a big group there (350 people). We tossed around the idea of something outside, like a picnic area with getting catering maybe. Obviously, the lakes should have some good spots for that. If anyone has an idea on a place to handle that many people, please let me know.

Most of us are staying at the Hampton Madison East, so proximity should not be an issue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

James

There's a new brewery in Sun Prairie called Full Mile, in a big new building. Might be able to accommodate a group of 35, but their site also says "no reservations".

Nitty Gritty says they have a large party room available.

There's also a Monk's in town, could probably fit 35 there.

There's a restored 50's style amusement park 15-20 min. east of Sun Prairie, Little Amerricka.

No problem, my area of expertise is mostly beer related, hopefully there's a good lead in there.
I've only stopped in Sun Prairie once like 10 years ago, so i'm not really an expert. :unsure:

The Nitty Gritty one is the current favorite. We are calling them to check.

We are also completely fine with going into Madison. A little bit of travel is not an issue. Not sure if the group will be OK with a trip to New Glarus though.....  :kickrock:

The clubhouse leaders for the events are:

Friday = Bowlavard
Saturday = Nitty Gritty (not confirmed yet but getting there)

Thanks for the help.
