This is our concern, dude.  I've never seen a fresh bottle in IL.  And at $7+ per 500mL they sit on the shelves.

Yep. The struggle is real
I stick to Maine on tap mostly, the beers are great They do bottle date, on the off chance they're actually fresh.

Never heard of them before.  Already way too much out of state/region beer on the shelves, IMO.

We went to the brewery a few years back when in Maine.  They had about 8 beers on including Lunch and Dinner.  Every one was a hoppy IPA.  I remember thinking how great but how similar they all were.

They are fairly similar, sort of varying degrees of intensity. Worth trying but not a repeat buy at that price.

Their beers are great if you can get them fresh, which is pretty much never.

sad but true

this is true with a lot of stuff besides Maine, we're in a huge market and there are 100's of out of date beers.
people tend to buy the freshest stuff, with 1000's of options it means some old stuff will sit.
local stuff tends to be fresher, but def not always the case.
it has little to do with "fickle beer nerds". Furley> :P

idk, but i mention it to anyone with a passing interest in buying beer.
seems like it's becoming more widespread but far from being an industry standard yet.

also true

So, i’m drinking Lunch and it’s good but I can’t really say it’s a great value. It’s $7/16oz. and local IPA’s of equal quality can be had for $10-12/4pk. Roughly half the price. That’s definitely another factor why they sit on shelves.

From my Beechwood rep-

Maine Brewing Preorders. I guess we won't be carrying much inventory and just taking preorders for those interested so dates stay fresh. We are expecting our first order in August

Peeper, Lunch, Another One, Woods & Water will be the first four.

Try them on draft. They are solid quality and worth trying, though draft is the better value, imo.
