The Lake Farm Park group campsite has been booked so it is time to start the thread. If you weren't camping last year, we had about 10 people show up and I think it is safe to say all had a lot of mosquito bites itches in places difficult to reach. (The pic is from 4 5 years ago)

Now is also a great time to book a hotel. If you plan on camping, a cancellable hotel reservation in case of mosquito assault unexpected moistness is not a bad idea.

 every year it takes a bit longer to shake off that historically awful hangover feeling and thought of "i am never doing this to myself ever again... holy shit i feel horrendous" before you cave and say "FUCK YEAH! I CAN'T WAIT TO DO THAT AGAIN!"

My wife just told me she was approved to take the first two weeks of August off and plans to go to Chicago to visit her brother.  Hoping I can convince her to take a detour to Madison.

I just booked the Sheraton for Friday and Saturday.  I'm bringing a friend from down here with me this year.  Since it is just the 2 of us in the room, we certainly would entertain the idea of splitting the bill if others wanted to share the room with us.

Must be post-marked on May 7th this year (always the Monday after in-person ticket sales).

I would think Donna and I (possibly with the kid this year, she is begging to come along) are in, not sure where we'll end up staying at this point.

Also going to be at the Concourse (Hotwire had it for $139/night, about what we paid last year for the Super8 by the Beltline). Will be nice to be downtown again for the first time in a long time.

They might. I always try to lock in a cancel-able room early somewhere downtown.  If I manage to find a better deal later, I'll drop the first one, but I like being walking distance to the capitol.

Just read there may be a lottery for new breweries to get in. I wish they’d scale down the cask tent, education tent, etc. space in favor of more breweries. Or that the crappy ones would take a hike

Saw Levi of Funk Factory have a loud conversation with one of the main Home brew club members about this exact topic 2 months after the taste last year.

Also saw Mikerphone post of fb they won the lottery this year. They really need to cut down on some of the l breweries that just dont bring there A game. But it is subjective and they are kind of damned if they do damned if they dont.

What if they asked for volunteers to pair up and share tables or something?
I know some like to go all out and bring entire living room sets... but maybe using space more economically would be a wiser choice.

Some places literally bring the same crap every year, some i've skipped for 7-8 years now. Brewery Creek's dozen shandies for instance. I guess there's an audience or they wouldn't come, but isn't the writing on the wall if no one's drinking it?

I know some like to go all out and bring entire living room sets... but maybe using space more economically would be a wiser choice.

Some places literally bring the same crap every year, some i've skipped for 7-8 years now. The dozen shandies for instance. I guess there's an audience or they wouldn't come, but isn't the writing on the wall if no one's drinking it?

Or telling some of the breweries who sell out of beer in seconds that they can either bring more or move on.

Just read there may be a lottery for new breweries to get in. I wish they’d scale down the cask tent, education tent, etc. space in favor of more breweries. Or that the crappy ones would take a hike

Agree.  I haven't touched the Furley tent for years.

 :excited:

Saw Levi of Funk Factory have a loud conversation with one of the main Home brew club members about this exact topic 2 months after the taste last year.

Also saw Mikerphone post of fb they won the lottery this year. They really need to cut down on some of the l breweries that just dont bring there A game. But it is subjective and they are kind of damned if they do damned if they dont.

What if they asked for volunteers to pair up and share tables or something?

Exactly. I think some more specifically worded regulations might help in both cases.
Except "don't bring crap" would have to be more diplomatic. The whole point is to bring anything and everything, inevitably some crap slides in.

Something like X gallons per booth space would help dramatically.  Some of them might voluntarily step back.

I know we have seen some breweries pair up with breweries that couldn't get in, we have seen some drop out as well that I wish hadn't but not much I can do about that. It would be cool if they devoted one tent to first year breweries at the fest and maybe had voting and say top 3 (maybe adjust based on avg number of breweries that drop a year) were assured a spot the next year in the actual fest. Maybe they could institute some kind of relegation system, doubtful I guess but would be interesting. They are kind of victims of their own success here.

I like that idea - sort of a rookie of the year thing.

Is it on a boat?
Give a man a beer, and he'll waste an hour

Teach him to brew, and he'll waste a lifetime

I just booked The Graduate - on the square side of the union - 10 min walk to square - on hotwire for $154.  It was the 3.5* in the downtown district.

Beats the $220 Concourse we had booked.
