Ended up flying to Boise from Riverside and must say they have some outstanding brews around here and a ton of selection of local stuff.  Yesterday I tried a couple of IPA's from Boise Brewing Co. that were top notch and I've sampled a few others over the previous few days that were quite nice.  Really hadn't heard much about it being a beer destination previously but I must say their beer scene has to rival some cities quite a bit bigger.

How many breweries are there?

Not from Boise, but from nearby Jackson Hole, if you see anything from Melvin Brewing DRINK IT!

I've been there before, but wasn't of drinking age yet.

Edit: looks like Snake River is there, didn't they do some sour stuff that medaled at GABF?

How many breweries are there?

Counting the smaller towns surrounding Boise like Meridian, Garden City, etc. there are probably 15-20 of them.  Went down to Woodland Empire who have a few locations now and they had probably a dozen of their beers on tap with a couple of really nice IPA's, some typical offerings, then about half a dozen sours.  Good scene here.

Nice, that's more than I would've thought considering the town size. With all the little towns, it covers a pretty good area.
