I was #3 in line, got my wristband right away and went to Furley, think Jess joined us a little later, took about 30 minutes for the dude in the GI military style hat given away in like 2009 (wish I hadn't lost mine) to get to Jess/Furley who ended up being 58/59 in line. There was a big group of people ahead of them that were all together, and I remember the dude almost walking past Furley/Jess like he got the whole group but they jumped out and got their wristbands. When I was third in line dude clearly was saying that we needed to be _exactly_ in line or we would go to the back. When I thought about it later, I am sure goose island hat dude said that to the whole group that was in front of Furley/Jess, but I have no recollection of him mentioning it to them. I hadn't noticed that as it happened, only in retrospect, so after I got my tickets I went and joined the rest of TBS in line (most of whom were in the 60s I guess) and just assumed that Jess/Furley had lined up correctly. I think GI hat dude never mentioned it to them and the other dude was just so rigid it is unbelievable. It wasn't like they were #30 in line and they were in the 190s, they were at most 8 people out of line? Had he yelled "58!!!........ 59!....." I have no doubt they would have heard it. Instead, back of the line.

Dude sounded like he wanted to fight me when I calmly brought this shit up to him including the fact that I know Mineral Point Steves didn't enforce the line like that and I heard of no other site doing so. He started yelling like he was my dad. I'm not a guy who gets all raged up and ready to fight but this dork earlier was humblebragging that he was running a marathon the day after the taste so he would have to take it easy at the fest. Sorry, dude, you're not my fucking dad, and I haven't been working out for the past 11 months so some atrophic 55 year old who thinks running 26 miles from his problems makes him a man can treat me like a piece of dirt, I will wrassle you like a motherfucker, sir, you'll smell my armpits til you say uncle and even then I'll give you an Native American burn right as I let you go. He calmly shut the fuck up and ran inside with his tail between his legs.

Thanks for laying out what happened. To me the worst part was that they never said to our group "be in exact order, or go to the back of the line". They just repeated "line up in numerical order" and that's all I heard. You can't arbitrarily enforce a rule not made clear to everyone. They never did that in years past, so it came as a shock to all of us.

I remember the guys face too, and the guy behind us that inexplicably sided with the line nazi. What a self entitled douche, put yourself in someone else's shoes dude. Could've happened to anyone, and it was bizarre that Furley and Jess got singled out, as if he was just trying to make an example of someone for no reason.

if that's going to be the rule, great, but tell everyone as the wristbands are being passed out and maybe put up a sign as a reminder.

failing that, don't be a giant fucking douchebag if an issue comes up with someone who has a wristband on that's clearly well within the capped number that were passed out. it's not like jess & i showed up at 11:45 and tried to con our way to the front.

a simple "we're just trying to make sure there isn't a giant clusterfuck of people arguing because they're #183 but have a 12:15 appointment so they just have to go in right now and fuck everyone else..... we're at #60 and you just missed the cattle call for 55-59, so go ahead in" would have been the right thing to do.

instead mr. auxiliary coast guard dropout decided this was the hill he was going to die on today and made a scene. thought jessnick handled it well all things considered. guy thought he could shout at both of them and win the fight but it didn't work out so well.

bruh, you're out there for.... maybe an hour? i don't care if 50 people asked you questions, be an adult & have some respect.

So, funny thing. We were at Half Acre tonight, trying to walk out the door. A tour bus is unloading and nonstop people pouring in. It’s none other than GT staff, some look vaguely familiar. I wanted to high five them or something, but instead looked for that guy. Lucky for him he skipped this trip.
