Cellar It Forward
« on: February 01, 2016, 08:05:10 PM »
Death of Post and Reply topic got me thinking about something I've wanted to do for a while but haven't gotten around to it.  Its another BIF but this one is meant to age...

Cellar It Forward.  Each person sends a box of roughly 132 oz of beer thats meant to age for at least three years. And when we receive our boxes...we do nothing with them.  You throw the box, unopened, in your cellar, basement, etc.

In 3 years, we will then open up the well aged packages.  This BIF will require patience and a commitment that you are going to be around TBS three years from now.

Any Interest?  Sort of like a time capsule.

I think you're suppose to send beer that will age for three years, not already aged.

All beers can age for 3 years.  Whether they can do it well is another thing.

should it then be that we are sending new beers that should age well for 3 years?

or beers that we have already cellared which should hang on a while longer?

I think either way works.  As long as they should be tasty in three years, throw them in the box.

I haven't traded in years but I would like to participate in this one (if you'll have me).  Sounds like a great idea and I can think of maybe 20 to 25 beers that would fit this concept on the shelves right meow.  Colorado in!

Thinkin bout it.  But do you send beer to one person and they send to another, I assume.   And how do I know this isn't the long game schtick where in 3 years I open up a 12 pack of Natty Lite.  Only to have the rest of TBS point an laugh.  <_<

I'll leave this open for a couple more days to see if we can get a few more entries.

Since this a trade about aging, I'm going to draw names randomly.  So you might be sending to someone local.

And let's figure out an ounce range that works for everyone and stick to it.

Beer. It always seems like such a good idea at the time. What's worse is beer seems like an even better idea after you've had some beer.

I would participate but odds are I'll probably be dead in three years.

Plus I'd hate for family/CSI to go through my stuff and see what gator sent three years ago.

Sounds like you're in.  And if you're dead you really won't care what kind of castration bands Gator sends you.
