Houston, Texas 9-22 - 9-26

I am going to be in Houston next week for work.. Looking at a map, kinda looks like the west side of town, inside the 610 freeway that appears to loop around town.  (kinda west of "Neartown")

Any recommend beer/food places in this area?  Any must hits within driving distance?

Should I get a hotel close to there or another part of town?

I'm from Houston, but I don't really know all that much about it destination wise anymore as I haven't lived there in almost ten years. If you give me a better idea of the location you need to be, I can think of a few things.

So, I'm heading home tomorrow.

- St. Arnold Brewing has a $17 lunch that includes a good meal and as many pints as you want between 11am and 2pm!  Crazy   
- There are a few newer breweries here, Karbach and 8th wonder are a couple I tried, both make good beer.

Also, Houston has some awesome food!  Tons of selection and everything I had was pretty great.

No worries dude.  I just wanted to share what I found here.  I didn't expect you to have a lot of info leaving here 10 years ago, it's all good man!  I'm drinking a Karbach double IPA right now, solid brew!!

Late to this party.

Been to most/all of the craft breweries in Houston. St. Arnolds, Buffalo Bayou, Karbach and 8th Wonder. St. Arnold's is nice, but I like Karbach's offerings most of all.

I'm rarely driving when I'm down there to visit friends but there are some excellent beer bars.

Flying Saucer (downtown), Hay Merchant, Moon Tower, Ginger Man, Petrol Station just to name a few.

St. Arnold's is definitely a fun group visit, but their beers are meh.

Will be back in H-town this weekend. We've got a couple home sessions planned and i'm sure we'll hit a few spots.

Spindletap and B-52 are the hot hazy IPA breweries. Spindletap IPAs are probably the best in Texas.

Spindletap is on the northside and has some normal beers on tap too. Worth a visit! Petrol station and Great Heights brewery are nice spots in the Heights. I haven't lived there in over ten years so I only know the few spots my friends take me when I'm home.
