Does "dumb phase" exist for beer?

I have 2 batches of big wheatwines and a Utopia clone that were nice fro the first couple years but now seem a bit washed out.  The WW has an abbey yeast that is know for developing character as it ages.  Is dumb phase a real thing?  Is is even real in wine?

If a cellared beer ages poorly, I personally don't expect the rest to "improve".

How does it taste at room temperature?
