I've had very limited experience with Promash but it seems to be pretty outdated.  Beersmith is the way to go.

This. From what I can recall Beersmith was a LOT more user friendly.

I'm sold.  I had promash for many years then my computer crashed a year ago and Promash was dead.  So should be a good time to switch.

I love the idea of having it on my phone or tablet on brewday.

Me too, but I want some more details on how it works.  I don't want to pay for their stupid cloud just to use the app.  I'm ok with manually copying/re-entering my recipes.

The cloud if free.  I just bought the full ap and was able to upload from my computer, download onto my phone and it even lets me import my equipment profile if I ever want to build a recipe on my android machine.  This might be my impetus to buy an android tablet now.  That would be killer to have integrated into brew day.

The cloud is free for the first 15 recipes, then you have to pay.

From what I can tell, there is space for 15 recipes in the free version.  Take out a recipe, you get space for another one.  It does not appear to be 15 uploads, but space for 15 at a time.

That's what I'm seeing when I watched a few of the videos.  Don't you have a Kindle Fire?  It's on the Amazon app store.  I'm going to load it to the kid's Fire and play around with it while debating if I'm buying a Nexus 10 or not.

Yes, but that is something I can't count on being available when I want it.  I've been looking for an excuse to get a true tablet (10 inch screen) so this might be it.

Any opinions on this being used on a phone?  I had it on my old work laptop, but can't use it on the chromebook.  I could just reinstall on the roomies laptop.

It's definitely a lot easier to enter recipes on a computer vs. a tablet, which would probably be even worse on a phone.  The only thing I use on a regular basis that isn't in the mobile version is the starter size calculator.  If you're going to pitch and pray, that doesn't matter.

Downloaded the app for my ipad as I have no other way of using it.  I had finally got to figuring out the desktop based program but this has completely confused me....probably gonna try brewing in my apartment for the first time this weekend.  Should be interesting.

You should have a shut-off valve under the sink.  Run a splitter to a shut-off for a hose barb and then the other line back to the faucet.   (just like a dishwasher set-up.)

BTW I don't like the app at all.  Can never find what I'm looking for and it's pretty much useless to me.

I only use it with the cloud to access my recipes on brew day.  I build everything and keep all permanent info on the desktop version.
