Hey guys, I'm new, I figured- what the hell I'd introduce myself. I am friends with Geoi at South Bay- he sent me (or so to speak)... CHEERS BEER FOOLS!!!
 :banned:

Also- what's up with the RIP's on the BA member list? Are these people passed expiration or what?

Those were either alias accounts or user accounts that have been banned at BA, or in my case I asked them to delete it but they refused. Basically, they are dead accounts at BA.

Was it's Candace's post about "say anything sexist and we'll delete your account"?

You'd think that they'd be smarter about what THEY post and worry less about what a bunch of immature drunks post.

This looks as good a place as any to make an intro. Been on BA for some years but never really felt like it was a community, and recently it just feels like an oppressive regime run by hypocrites. But enough about that, whats the low down on this place?

I'm a big fan of Mid-West beers, just started trading, and have a decent grasp of craft beer. Looking forward to seeing what this joint is all about.

Welcome. We're a bit more relaxed about most things here. Not as much personal attacking on the forums.

Basically, we're starting out with a slow growth plan, and trying to grow organically from the membership that's already here. We are in the process of upgrading a few things and plan to have a decent amount of new things for everyone at various points in 2010.

Our reviews database is somewhat small at this point, but we are in the process of expanding that with a Beer Review Upload application. Also, you can purchase our application for downloading YOUR OWN reviews at BA.

Here:
http://www.thebeerspot.com/store

That allows you to grab your own reviews, and use them as you wish. Eventually you can upload them here if you want.

Anyway, welcome to the group. Good to see another Chicago area person here.

Thanks for the welcome. George, I saw on the Frapper that you were in Wilmette. I get down there to a cigar shop every so often. We'll have to have a beer one of these days. I don't have a ton af reviews at BA (11 total) so maybe I'll just start adding some here. Picked up a FFF Admiral Nelson today that should fit the bill nicely.

This looks as good a place as any to make an intro. Been on BA for some years but never really felt like it was a community, and recently it just feels like an oppressive regime run by hypocrites. But enough about that, whats the low down on this place?

welcome
this is much more of a community. lots of good people. plenty of good natured shtickery.

i'm President of the ***OFFICIAL*** Welcoming Committee. urbanhack will personally deliver your TBS pin, hat and ass-grab by no later than Wednesday of this week.

'Bout time you found this place.

I ended up drinking 9 times my body weight in beer, broke three glasses over my head, 7 over others, ordered up 17 hookers for a little afterparty, held a cabbie hostage while running his cab through the Madison capitol doors, and I grabbed gator's ass.
