Wow.    :drunk: :deadbanana:
Quote
Here comes the draft list! Pretty impressive!

3 bars this year, the front bar will be flagship and seasonal only, we will have a side bar that is only high end beer, and a bar by the bands with a few flagships.

Front Bar:
Honey Blonde
Shine On
Ouisconsing Red
Happy Heron Pale Ale
Glacial Trail IPA
Mudpuppy Porter

Nitropuppy
Satin Solstice Imperial Stout
Brewhouse Coffee Stout
Slainte Scotch Ale

High End Tappings!
On All night:
Bourbon Barrel Slainte Scotch Ale

Rye Bourbon Stout
Y2K Barleywine 2012
Peruvian Morning (yes all night)
Bourbon Stout
Bourbon Barrel Barleywine 2012
Bourbon Cherry Stout (yes all night)
Exodus! (yes all night)
Timed Releases:
3 PM - 2011 Bourbon Barrel Barleywine
5 PM - 1414
6 PM - 15
7 PM (or when 15 kicks, so probably 6:05!) - 2011 Y2K Barleywine
Then switching between the 2011 Y2K and Bourbon Barrel Barleywine the rest of the night.

Please note that Bourbon Cherry Stout, Exodus, 1414 and 15 will be $5 per 8 oz pour, the rest are $4.

also i brought along an 06 BBS (fantastic!) and an 08 Bourbon Cherry (meh).

good news: the Peruvian Morning is outstanding.  fresh on tap it was incredible.

bad:  the Rye Bourbon was flat tasting. the pour was nearly still and the taste more or less matched it.

Le Petite Morts. Here's how it's described: "A difficult beer to describe, but it is 8.3% alcohol, a very deep mahogany color, with a very subtle belgian ester profile on the nose. This flavor carries through the palate, a bit of smoky caramel, with a hint of the banana like esters from the belgian yeast. I wouldnt go so far as to call this a dubbel, the yeast is a mixture of belgian yeast and american ale yeast."

apparently hit the ground in bottles recently

:(

Oof - two years in a row.

Just bad luck, or the result of too much focus on expansion (and not paying attention to the details)?

could it be that the coffee is the culprit?? something happening with barrel aging that particular brand of coffee bean?

I opened a bottle the other night that was fantastic. So i am assuming they do multiple batchs and dont blend at the end. I have another bottle in the fridge and another 4 pack sitting around. though i grabbed one bottle from each of the 4 packs i had so hoping they are not infected.

That packaging is a positive step forward, but their brand logo still needs a lot of work, imho.

I had the beer last year.  It's new as it was only test batches last year and it had a different name.  It was Hopsessional (or something like that) before.

popped in here on saturday afternoon

1) if you find yourself driving up this way between 2-3pm on a saturday, tune in 89.9 for some funk in your life. the area from a bit west of Appleton all the way to Amherst is a dead zone.  you either listen to whatever NPR has to offer or you listen to country music. NPR was playing some story that did not interest me in the least.. managed to stumble across this station that played back to back to back to back great songs.  before fading to "smooth jazz" at 3pm. but.. an oasis in an otherwise audio desert.

2) had Peruvian Morning on tap and it was excellent. very bourbony. no hints whatsoever of any off taste. at $4 a pint pour i couldn't pass it up.

3) they had an unnamed Imperial Red on tap.  much more tasty than the Ouisconsing (or as the guy next to me called it "Outsourcing Red", he also butchered several other names but i can't remember them exactly) but still a red

4) Brewhouse Coffee Stout is up and fuck is it great. $14 for a growler. worth every cent.

5)  either get there a few minutes early and beat the 3pm rush.. or wait until 3:45-4. i got there about 2:45 and walked straight in at 3 to sit down.  there was a group of 5 ladies, me, and one other couple seated around the bar. there was one bartender working.. she warned the ladies group that they should quickly decide on drinks before the place got slammed. she wasn't kidding around. these ladies took their sweet time and held up about 8-10 other people who wanted drinks. by the time they decided there were a good 25-30 people in the place.

some were griping about the slowness of the service but.. there wasn't much that could be done short of a patron hopping behind the bar to help out.  the chick was scrambling all over the place trying to get orders, answer questions, help people with merchandise, etc.  not sure if another bartender showed up later but for the hour i was there, she was the only one.

totally blew my mind.  i had given up on finding anything listenable but this time just couldn't listen to my cd's.. had to try something.  so thankful to have stumbled across that station. gmfb UWSP radio.

Great time, man!
We all staked out a spot outside and enjoyed the day. What were we sitting on? A mini-bulldozer thingy? No keys available, so it stayed safe.

Furley ran the 5-mile race in the a.m. during which no nipples were harmed.

He even got along with the Green Bay couple we dragged with us. Lots of laughs and tasty beer.
An awesome way to celebrate our 13th anniversary (we met Furley for the first time at CW during our 7th anniversary celebration).

Pretty sure Levi is from the Madison area. The big red headed guy might be BA bigreduw64. He used to work at The Coffee Grounds in Eau Claire and I believe he moved and I think he helps out or works for O'so. He was pouring for them at the Casanova Beer Cave Fest a couple years ago.

Hey guys.  Yea, I am in Madison and not the big red headed guy.  That is Doug.  He, Katina (Marc's wife), and another lady ran the 5 mile run at Central Waters that morning and so were hanging out at CW drinking together as well.

The beer that was on tap at Central Waters is called "Project LO".  The CW guys mislabeled it as Big'O Lambic.  This is NOT the lambic stuff we are doing.  Project Lo is a sour blonde.  The confusion with CW comes from the description of the beer, which is that it is Big O wort (minus the orange peel) that is fermented in a horny lambic barrel.  Again, Project LO was on tap and it is a sour blonde, not lambic.  :)

O'so and I (Funk Factory) are brewing lambic together.  Project LO was just a little side project, but its not really what I am focused on doing.

This winter you will see bottle release of:
Dweller on the Threshold (blended american sour)
Sikaru (young lambic fruited with dates)
Cranberry Project LO (sour blonde ale)

well, it was pretty damned tasty.  it's not a beer i expected to enjoy but i gave it a shot because it's O'so.  came away pretty pleasantly surprised.

so.. that was a one time only deal? or will there be more on tap/in bottles?

Glad you liked it.  Project LO is a really good, easy to drink beer with a nice sour level going on.  I really hope they take this project and do it on a large scale.  There were 6 sixtels filled of it.  2 have been tapped already.  The other 4 will be tapped at various festivals/parties.  Next tapping will be at their anniversary party.  (and, like I said, the cranberry version will be bottled)

It is under the O'so license and will be labeled as a collaboration between O'so and Funk Factory.

You did, without specifics or labels.  I just put it where people would expect to find it once they posted a bit more info.

Event
Central Waters 16th Anniversary, Sixteen Ticket Sales
On January 25, 2014, we will be hosting our 16th anniversary party from 3pm - 11pm. Due to the overwhelming response we got last year from our amazing fans, we have decided to offer these tickets in advance of the party, reserving your allotment of up to 8 bottles of our new anniversary beer, Sixteen, for $15 per bottle, these tickets go on sale on December 1st, 2013. This ticket price of $5 per ticket ONLY reserves your allotment, you must pay for your bottles of Sixteen on site, CASH ONLY. We will not hold your beer for you past the times of 2pm - 7pm on January 25, 2014. All online ticket sale profits will be donated to The Jensen Center, Amherst's local community center. After 7pm, we will open sales up of any remaining Sixteen on a first come first served basis, with allotments to be determined, if there even is any available for sale after these times.

The doors to the party open at 3pm, in the coming weeks, we will be posting more details about this event, please check our website and Facebook page for details about the party itself, this is strictly for ticket sales regarding Sixteen allocations.

To recap, purchasing a ticket here for $5, which we will donate to a local community center, reserves your allocation for up to 8 bottles of Sixteen at $15 each. You may pick these bottles up at the designated Sixteen sale site at the brewery on January 25, 2014, anytime between the hours of 2pm and 7pm, CASH ONLY. Brown paper Tickets will provide us with a will call list of names of everyone who purchased the tickets. You must provide an I.D. that matches the will call name provided by Brown Paper Tickets. We will then scratch off that name, thereby preventing one person from purchasing multiple allocations.

We are excited for this years party, and are committed to making this year much smoother than last year, and we believe that this system for Sixteen sales will alleviate the problems experienced last year regarding sales of our anniversary beer. Thank you to everyone in the beer community for your overwhelming support, see you in January!
