What? Since when did AB take over ownership of GI? I thought they just entered into a distro contract.

As far as I knew they had invested in part of GI, then bought the rest in 2008 I think. That's what I was told anyway. Not by GI officially obviously, so take that for what it is. I might be wrong, obviously.

As far as I remember originally AB was also in just a distro deal with Widmer and Redhook. However, those companies needed to meet certain numbers or lose part of the company. Little by little AB took over and then combined them under CBA. The fear was

Bottom line is that AB owns at least 25% of CBA now. And "they" own 40% of Goose Island. And AB has the distribution for GI. I honestly don't know the details. But HOOK is publicly traded so we could find out some of the math.
