Style Information |
A Bock is a lager that originated in Einbeck, Germany. The name is also derived from the town name, but also means male deer or goat in German. Bocks were originally a dark beer brewed for special religious events, particularly by Roman Catholic monks. The modern version of this style should range in color from pale copper to amber to brown. The aroma should show strong malt tones, as well as notable alcohol smell. Hop notes should also be low. The taste should show minor to low hop bitterness, with strong malt sweetness and alcohol flavor. The feel should be medium to full bodied. ABV usually ranges from 6% to 7.5%. IBUs should be relatively low and range from 20 to 30. |
