The American Pale Wheat Ale is a cousin of the German wheat beers, in particular the Hefeweizen. The color should range from pale yellow to gold. The beer may or may not be cloudy, depending on whether it was filtered. Carbonation should also be quite notable. Aroma notes should include a slight grassy tone, also with wheat sweetness, fruity aromas, and possibly cloves. Hop presence should be low to medium, in both aroma and flavor. ABV should range from 4% to 7% or more. IBUs should be low in the range of 10-20. |
