Pours a deep deep mahogany with a hint of red when held to the light. Several fingers of bubbly deep tan foam settle fairly quickly and leave the walls ofthe glass coated with just a bit of lace. Foam settles to leave just a small layer of light brown foam coating the top of the brew.

Smells of rich malt with a nice sweetness you find in a well made red ale. Nice medium caramel notes with a touch of toffee and a hint of nuttiness. Then there are the hops that these Stone anniversary brews have always been known for. Sweet and bitter notes of grapefruit and sticky pine needles. Lemon and fruit come through nicely too. Beautiful aroma.

Smooth malty body with a bit of prickly carbination. Nice sweetness with lots of light caramel. Notes of smooth toffee comes through a lot more in the flavor then in the aroma. Hops have a great bitterness that bites nicely before the fruity hops notes come through. Pine at first and then great grapefruit and lemon dance on the tongue. Aftertaste has plenty of fruity hop notes with grapefruit being more prominent and then a nice caramel and toffee flavor riding out the end of the aftertaste.

Great brew that's a pleasure to drink. No sign of the 9.5% ABV in the aroma or flavor. The malt and hops balance eachother very nicely even with the big hoppy makeup of this brew. I love red ales and love hoppy ones even more so this one is a treat. Lookin forward to Stone posting the recipe for this one.
