Whoa, not what I was expecting. Deep, dark ruby color, not the typical IPA, and even dark for a red. Thick, one-finger head.
The smell is off the charts. Full of pine and citrus, and some malts at the end. Tons of hops everywhere make my mouth whet for the first sip.
I was a bit disappointed at first, but my mistake was thinking this was supposed to be an IPA. The hops are not so apparent in the taste as they are in the smell, but more of a balanced taste. It's very sticky sweet, with the hops just lingering and lingering to make an extremely bitter and dry finish that puckers the cheeks.
Once I got over my initial trepidation, I realized this is an extremely good beer. Not the best Stone Anniversary offering (10th was), but this is a worthy addition.
