2008 bottling which means it was brewed in 2007 and this vintage was 8.1% ABV.

Pours a deep black with a small bubbly deep brown head. The bubbles settle fairly quickly and leave little sign of lacing on the walls of the glass.

Deep malty aroma. Lots of roasted malt and chocolate alone with notes of coffee and raisins. Toffee and caramel mingle nicely. Dark fruit and more coffee at the end.

Big smooth malty body. Lots of roasted malt with a nice very dry touch of sweetness. Lots of coffee and some chocolate. Raisins and dried fruit come through from the slightly fizzy carbonation that bubbles on the tongue and stick with you into the aftertaste. Bit more coffee in the aftertaste too.

This brew held up nicely over the past 2 years. I'd be down for grabbing a couple bottles of the 2010 when it's released in November.
