2007 Vintage

A smooth pour reveals a cloudy amber/copper color, with a nice, small, slighty off- white head. Impressive lacing.

On the nose, smells of citrus (grapefruit), hops, pine and a little spicy sweetness. Not really getting the alcohol vapor sensation I was expecting however... I like that.

Ahhhh, there it is, but very pleasantly considering the ABV. Hops are nice, grassy, grapefruity, piney. Just the right amount of bitterness. A bit malty, well balanced. Even as it warms, the alcohol, while noticeably present, doesn't become overly dominating. Damn nice. I'll bet that earlier in the year this was a bit more "pungent"...

The mouthfeel is slick, syrupy and full, with that expected dry finish.

This is an excellent Barley wine! Refreshing, with all the flavors that you would come to expect from an offering of this type, and very well balanced at that. Barley wines are not at the top of my list of faves, but the rest of these are going to the cellar. Gotta get me some good cheese and pull the rest out in about a year... Highly recommended -- Enjoy!
