This beer just won gold in the GABF, so let’s see how it holds up.
Pours an attractive amber color with a good inch of fluffy white foam. Little carbonation action after the head falls down to a thick ring but that ring remains well through the drink, with some good lacing as well.
Big aromas of grassy, pine, citrus, grapefruit hops. A good malt backbone as well, it also smells very sweet.
Taste is all about hop goodness, but there is also a robust malt presence that keeps this beer a little balanced. Hop profile is very similar to the aroma, grassy, citrus and pine flavors with a little biscuit and caramel malts upfront. The finish is dry and pleasantly bitter.
I still prefer the summer edition of Yulesmith but this Hopsickle is still a first class DIPA.
