A - Pours a deep black body that is completely opaque, as the name would suggest. Head starts at about one full inch of thick, tight bubbles. Sort of the color of chocolate milk.

S - Huge piney hops here, which sort of surprised me coming from an imperial stout made with coffee. Nice milk chocolate. Light anise. Don't really pick up coffee here.

T - Starts off with all kinds of malts right away. Big and roasty dark and black malt, bringing with it some light day old coffee flavors. Graham cracker cream pie? Fruity undertones come in with a tropical sense to them. Hops come on with a big bitter bite with huge pine needle flavors. Bitterness stays though into the aftertaste. Alcohol is fairly heavy here.

M - Full bodied and oily slick. Carbonation is a little low.

Overall - Good, not great. Still a little hot. I will be interested in how this beer ages, hopefully taming down the hops and alcohol heat some.
