Arctic Rhino pours black, absolutely opaque black. There's a hint, and by hint I mean sliver, of chestnut brown toward the bottom of my pint glass. A 1+ finger mocha head formed on the pour that fades to a thick cap of creaminess. Leaves sheet lacing on it's way down.

Roasted malts are first to greet the nose along with an unexpected but pleasant aroma of dark berries. Mild blueberries and blackberries. The freshly ground coffee shows up on the backend with a splash of cream and lingers around with a balancing herbal hoppiness. Very enticing aromas from this one.

Nicely bitter roasted malts kick things off and the coffee steps in quickly for the one-two punch. Fresh coffee that balances very well with the roasted malt. Both linger throughout the swallow. Mid palate the creaminess that was in the aroma appears but is quickly elbowed out of the way by a pretty solid dose of hops. Bitter herbal hops. Good flavors all around.

Mouthfeel is just slightly on the thin side with the carbonation being slightly too aggressive. Don't get me wrong in no way is this bad just something for me to pick apart I guess. Welcomed hop and roasted malt bitterness on the finish.

I could sit here and sip the night away with this brew. Some coffee infused beers are one and done for me but the coffee is just a component compared to others where it's the showcase.

My first offering from Midnight Sun turns out to be a solid porter I would try anytime if it was available in my area. Looking forward to trying all their beers I can get my hands on.
