Recieved this through my RB Secret Santa, thanks Melvin. Ipswich IPA pours with a noteworthy amount of chill haze making it impossible to see through the pumpkin pie colored brew. A one finger off white head formed on the pour and slowly fell to a resectable cap that left spotty lacing.
This is a malt bomb of an IPA. Big hit of caramel right upfront along with swirling of brown sugar coated grapefruit. There's even a bit of toffee in there. Again, this is a malt bomb of an IPA. Faint alcohol on the backend. Not bad but I tend to lean toward hop bomb IPAs as opposed to the balanced and/or maltier IPAs.
Flavor is spot on with the aroma. Big caramel maltiness from beginning to end with the occasional flash of brown sugar coated grapefruit. Finishes slightly sweet. Not bad just not my style.
Ipswich's IPA has a medium body with a coating mouthfeel. The carbonation is sluggish which lets this beer works its way through all on it's lonesome.
I can sip this one easy enough bt since it's not my style of IPA it will have to be a one and done.
If you like the malty IPAs give this one try. If you're more of a hop head this beer probably isn't for you. Not bad by any means just doesn't have what I expect from a IPA.
