Pours a caramel color with almost a two inch thick crown of foam.

This beer has a good fresh coffee aroma, lightly roasted and nutty aromas too. There are hints of hazelnut, vanilla and dry toast in the background. As the beer rests the coffee becomes more integrated with the toasted malt and some milk chocolate blends in as well. I’m detecting a slightly ashen aroma far in the back of the bouquet. As it warms up the beer develops a dry grain characteristic and it picks up some notes of toffee or butterscotch.

On the first sip I get some mocha flavors but they don’t seem well tied together. A rush of coffee comes first and almost instantly it changes to bitter chocolate and finishes with a lighter coffee flavor. Nutty and toasted malt is picked up near the finish and lingers in the aftertaste. A little buttery in the aftertaste as well.

This one feels a little on the thin side but that makes it really easy to drink, especially since the flavors are not harsh or aggressive. This one is too easy to drink!

Overall I think this is a good coffee porter. I like the little info it says on the back label “Each serving is equal to one cup of coffee.”
