Special thanks to Fro for helping me acquire a bottle each of these gems. I took both of these beers to have side-by-side at the SeaofFloydster Tasting on March 28th. The first review is for the Bourbon BA Old Dipsea (aged in a 20 year Old Fitzgerald barrel for 7 months) #127/180. The second review is for the Bourbon BA Old Dipsea (aged in a Heaven Hill barrel for 8 months) #26/180. It was great having these two incredible beers side-by-side.

The Old Fitzgerald poured a dark brown with a ½ inch of foam, thin ring around the glass and good retention.

Brown sugar, caramel, oak, vanilla, and a touch of "green"barrel aroma. Toasted oak, toasted almonds, sweet raisins, and multi-grain bread...I'm loving this! The only other BA Barleywine that smells better than this one was the Pelican Perfect Storm I got to try a few hours earlier.

Oh wow! Sweet bourbon, raisins, vanilla cookies, butterscotch, caramel, sweet bread, and brown sugar. This is one tasty beer! Low carbonation but very smooth and easy to drink. One of the best BA Barleywines I've every had along with the Perfect Storm.

***This is the Heaven Hill version next**

Poured a dark brown just like the Old Fitzgerald but very little head on this one. (3)

A little tamer than the Old Fitzgerald. Bourbon, brown sugar, toasted oak and dark fruits soaked in alcohol in the background. (9-10)

Tastes of brown sugar, bourbon, toasted almonds and coconut, sweet dark fruits in the end with some alcohol warmth. Just as good as the Old Fitzgerald, I know Jason liked the taste of this one more than the Old Fitz. but he agreed that the Old Fitz had a better aroma. (19)

Low carbonation that is more apparent in the finish. (4.5)
Also smooth and easy to drink. (10)
