An old favorite.
Served chilled and poured into a pint glass.
Appearance is good. Deep copper color with slight haziness. Nice firm head off the aggressive pour that dies down to a soapy semi-thin film. Nice amount of lacing coats the glass.
Smell is above-average. Piney hops and caramel malt. Not a strong smell but what's there is pleasant.
Taste is very good. Juicy grapefruit hops and a medium-sized caramel malt presence. A slight candy-like sweetness tries to approach in the finish but gets washed away by the nice bittering grapefruit hops. Extremely balanced. A great blend of bittering hops and sweet malt.
Mouthfeel is good. Tingly carbonation at first with a very clean finish. Exceptional smoothness.
Drinkability is exceptional. I could drink a sixer of this beer with ease. Goes down smooth and easy. Almost too easy.
Overall: One of the best Reds on the market. Doesn't have the caramel malt bill that most within the style have but my preference is for these types of Reds; a great hop presence and a sweeter finish. Highly recommended.
