A: Pours like oil. Not as dark as motor oil but an uber dark brown. Head is tremendous…a solid block of thick cappuccino colored bubbles.

S: Super rich and oily. Fantastic blend of blackberries, espresso, bitter baking chocolate, wood shavings, blueberries and some pastry cream.

T: Tastes a lot like it smells. The oiliness comes on strong…not Dark Lord strong but its there. Immediately after the swallow, the fruity esters that accompany the oily malts and alcohol bring forth raspberry, blackberry and liquid bakers chocolate. The flavor tumbles and morphs ultimately settling into a good amount of bittering hops and roasted barley. The sweetness starts getting a little thick and cloying not long after the first sip.

M: Full bodied with a good viscosity.

D: Not bad. With some refinement from the brewery this beer could become something special, but until then it’s a poor man’s Dark Lord. Some age might help as well.
